CUTTING INSERT, CUTTING EDGE-REPLACEABLE ROTARY CUTTING TOOL AND ROTARY CUTTING METHOD
A cutting insert has a plate shape centered on an insert center axis. The cutting insert includes a front surface and a back surface facing an insert axial direction, an outer peripheral surface facing outward in an insert radial direction, and a cutting edge at an intersecting ridge line between the front surface and the outer peripheral surface. The back surface has a flat shape perpendicular to the insert center axis. The outer peripheral surface includes a flank surface coupled. The flank surface is inclined inward in the insert radial direction as extending in the insert axial direction from the front surface side to the back surface side. The front surface includes a rake surface. The rake surface is inclined from a back surface side to a front surface side in the insert axial direction as extending inward in the insert radial direction from the cutting edge.
Cutting insert
A cutting insert has a substantially triangular or square basic shape with a top surface and a base surface that are connected together by lateral flanks. A cutting edge is formed at the transition between at least one flank and the top surface. The cutting edge extends between cutting corners, and the cutting edge has a portion that is convex in side view of a flank. The convex portion of the cutting edge is bounded on both sides by concavely curved portions.
Cutting insert, cutting tool, and method of manufacturing machined product
A cutting insert may include a first surface, a second surface, a third surface, and a cutting edge. The first surface may include a first side part, a second side part, and a third side part. The cutting edge may be located at an intersection of the first surface and the third surface. The cutting edge may include a first cutting edge, a second cutting edge, and a third cutting edge. The third cutting edge may be located between the first cutting edge and the second cutting edge and have a convex curvilinear shape. The first cutting edge may be located asymmetrically relative to a bisector of an angle formed by the first side part and the second side part. The first surface may include a first inclined surface located along the first cutting edge and inclined toward the second surface at a first inclination angle.
CUTTING INSERT
A cutting insert 2 comprises a peripheral side surface 30 which is parallel to a central axis O of a first end surface 10 and a second end surface 20. The peripheral side surface 30 comprises a first side surface 31 facing a first major cutting edge 11, a second side surface 32 facing a first wiper edge 12, and a third side surface 33 facing a first inner edge 13. A flank 311 of the first major cutting edge 11 and a flank 321 of the first wiper edge 12 are inclined such that the flank 311 and 321 approaches the central axis O as it heads toward the first end surface 10. The flank 311 of the first major cutting edge 11 is located on a different plane from the first side surface 31. The flank 321 of the first wiper edge 12 is located on a different plane from the second side surface 32. Meanwhile, a flank of the first inner edge 13 is located on the same plane as the third side surface 33.
DOUBLE-SIDED, POLYGONAL CUTTING INSERTS WITH ALTERNATING CONCAVE AND CONVEX CUTTING EDGED
A double-sided, polygonal cutting insert includes a first surface and a second surface opposite the first surface. A plurality of side surfaces extend between the first surface and the second surface. A plurality of primary concave cutting edges are formed at an intersection between the plurality of side surfaces and the first and second surfaces, and a plurality of convex wiper edges are formed at an intersection between the plurality of side surfaces and the first and second surfaces. Each wiper edge has a step extending radially outward from a respective side surface. The cutting insert is mounted in a cutting tool such that the primary cutting edge and a wiper edge contact a workpiece to produce a high-quality surface finish on the workpiece.
