T-slot cutter
A T-slot cutter (1) is a tool for cutting a T-groove in a workpiece, and includes a body (2A) and an insert portion (3). The insert portion (3) is fixed to a leading end portion of the body (2A) using screws (8). The insert portion (3) is configured by overlaying inserts (4) and (5). By changing a combination of the inserts configuring the insert portion (3), a groove width and an angular shape of the T-groove cut in the workpiece can be easily adjusted. On mating faces of the inserts (4, 5), convex portions and concave portions of the mating face of the insert (4) overlap with concave portions and convex portions of the mating face of the insert (5). As a result, the inserts (4, 5) partially overlap with each other in a thickness direction, and thus a protrusion length of the insert portion (3) can be shortened.
CUTTING INSERT AND INDEXABLE ROTARY CUTTING TOOL
A cutting insert includes a cutting edge portion, and the cutting edge portion includes a bottom cutting edge forming an arc shape that protrudes toward a front end side in a central axis direction, an outer peripheral cutting edge forming an arc shape that protrudes toward an outside in a radial direction, and a cutting edge of corner that connects an outer end of the bottom cutting edge in the radial direction and a front end of the outer peripheral cutting edge in the central axis direction and forms an arc shape that protrudes toward a front end outer circumferential side. The bottom cutting edge and the outer peripheral cutting edge are formed so as to form a linearly symmetric shape together with respect to an imaginary straight line that passes through an arc central point of the cutting edge of corner and intersects the central axis.
TRIANGULAR-SHAPED INDEXABLE CUTTING INSERT HAVING RECESSED SIDE SURFACES AND ROTARY CUTTING TOOL
An indexable cutting insert has opposing upper and lower end surfaces, and a peripheral surface including three side surfaces circumferentially alternating with three corner surfaces. The three side surfaces define an imaginary triangle and an imaginary hexagon. Each corner surface intersects the upper end surface to form an upper corner peripheral edge having a primary cutting edge. In a top view, each triangle side traverses two upper corner peripheral edges, imaginary lines tangential to the end points of each primary cutting edge are either collinear or form an obtuse angle greater than 175 degrees, each primary cutting edge has a primary length greater than half the hexagon side length, and at least one triangle side traverses each primary cutting edge. The insert is removably secured in a rotary cutting tool such that one of the upper corner peripheral edges contains an axially forwardmost point of the insert's upper peripheral edge.
INSERT AND CUTTING TOOL
An insert may include a base member and a resin layer located on the base member. The base member may include a first surface, a second surface, and a cutting edge. The first surface includes a rake surface region. The second surface may be adjacent to the first surface and includes a flank surface region. The cutting edge may be located in at least a part of a ridge line at which the first surface intersects with the second surface. The resin layer may not be located on the second surface but may be located on the first surface.
Indexable, single-sided cutting insert having two clamping bores and cutting tool therefor
A cutting tool rotatable about a tool axis, having a cutting body and at least one indexable, single-sided cutting insert removably secured in an insert receiving pocket of the cutting body. The cutting insert has opposing upper and lower surfaces with a peripheral side surface extending therebetween and a central axis passing therethrough. First and second clamping bores extend between and open out at the upper and lower surfaces. First and second primary cutting edges are formed at the intersection of the upper surface and the peripheral side surface. The lower surface includes first and second annular recesses communicating with the first and second clamping bores, respectively, and first and second recess channels extending from the first and second clamping bores, respectively, to the peripheral side surface. The first and second recess channels extend parallel to a longitudinal first plane containing the central axis.
CUTTING INSERT AND CUTTING TOOL
The present invention provides a cutting insert in which suitable honing is formed on a cutting edge. The cutting insert is provided with: two end surfaces opposing each other; a peripheral side surface extending between the two end surfaces; and a cutting edge formed on an intersecting ridge between at least one of the two end surfaces and the peripheral side surface. The cutting edge at least includes a major cutting edge and an inner cutting edge. Honing is provided on the major cutting edge and the inner cutting edge. A width of second honing of the inner cutting edge is narrower than a width of first honing of the major cutting edge, as viewed from a side of the end surfaces.
CUTTING INSERT AND CUTTING TOOL
A cutting insert (1) comprises: a first end surface (2) and a second end surface (3) which are opposed to each other; a peripheral side surface (4) which extends so as to connect the first end surface (2) and the second end surface (3); a first cutting edge (5a) which is arranged in an intersecting edge between the first end surface (2) and the peripheral side surface (4); and a second cutting edge (5b) which is arranged in an intersecting edge between the second end surface (3) and the peripheral side surface (4). The peripheral side surface (4) includes a first flank (4a1) which is connected to the first cutting edge (5a) and an intermediate peripheral side surface portion (4b) which is arranged closer to the second end surface (3) than the first flank (4a1). The first flank (4a1) extends in a direction perpendicular to the first end surface (2). The intermediate peripheral side surface portion (4b) protrudes outward from the first flank (4a1).
INDEXABLE ROTARY CUTTING TOOL AND INSERT
An indexable rotary cutting tool comprising, a twist angle of the outer peripheral cutting edge having a positive value, an axial rake angle of the cutting edge of the corner R at a boundary point between the cutting edge of the corner R and the outer peripheral cutting edge has a positive value, the axial rake angle of the cutting edge of the corner R at the reference point has a negative value, at least the radial rake angle in a region between the boundary point and the reference point in an entire edge length region of the cutting edge of the corner R has a negative value, and the radial rake angle of the cutting edge of the corner R at the reference point is smaller than the radial rake angle of the cutting edge of the corner at the boundary point.
