MULTI-FLUTE END MILL
Broadly contemplated herein, in accordance with at least one embodiment, is a multi-flute end mill configuration that maintains circumferential spacing between the rake surface and clearance surface adjoining two adjacent end face cutting edges, respectively, regardless of the number of flutes and the desired end face configuration.
Milling tool and cutting insert for such a milling tool
A milling tool with a disk- or strip-shaped base body, which can be driven around an axis of rotation, and several cutting inserts arranged along the outer circumference of the base body on opposite sides from one another, wherein the cutting inserts, viewed in the axial direction, overlap one another. The invention also relates to a tangential cutting insert for a milling tool of the above-mentioned type, with two side surfaces, through which a fastening opening extends, and two face ends, wherein cutting edges are formed at the junction of the front faces to the side surfaces, wherein the fastening opening is positioned eccentrically.
MECHANICAL ROUGHENING PROFILE MODIFICATION TOOL
An interpolated roughening cutting tool includes a body having at least first and second cutting elements coupled thereto. The first cutting element includes rectangular cutting teeth. The second cutting element includes non-rectangular cutting teeth. The first and second cutting elements are configured to create grooves in a surface that have a top portion with blunt edge surfaces.
Rotary milling tool
Provided is a rotary milling tool capable of finishing a milled surface to produce a smooth and glossy surface. A rotary milling tool in which a plurality of chip discharge grooves (2) are provided to the outer periphery of a tip part of a tool body (1), the plurality of chip discharge grooves (2) extending from the tool tip toward the tool base, and bottom blades (5, 6) are provided to an intersection ridge part at the intersection of a rake surface (3) of the chip discharge grooves (2) and a tip flank surface (4) of the tool body (1), each of the bottom blades (5, 6) being formed integrally with the tool body (1), wherein a convex edge (7) that is convex toward a tool-axis-direction tip is formed on at least one of the bottom blades (5, 6), and the convex edge (7) is formed by the connection of a plurality of linear edges that are substantially linear.
Mechanical roughening profile modification
Tools and methods for forming modified mechanical roughening profiles are disclosed. In at least one embodiment, an engine block is provided including a body defining a cylinder bore having a bore surface. The bore surface may have defined therein a plurality of grooves extending from the bore surface and each groove may have a base and a top portion. The top portion may have opposing chamfered edges. The chamfered edges may be formed by a tool including at least one cutting element having triangular teeth and at least one cutting element having rectangular teeth. In another embodiment, a tool including at least one cutting element having curved teeth and at least one cutting element having rectangular teeth may be used to form grooves having a curved/radiused edge surface. The disclosed roughening profiles may reduce oxide growth when a coating is applied to the bore surface.
End mill having teeth and associated flutes with correlated physical parameters
An end mill includes a plurality of teeth and flutes. The teeth and their associated flutes include one or more correlated physical parameters. One such correlated parameter is that, at an axial location in a front half of an effective cutting length, at least one tooth of the plurality of teeth has a rake angle smaller than an average rake angle value of the plurality of teeth, and, at the same axial location, a flute preceding each such tooth has a helix angle larger than an average helix angle value of the plurality of flutes.

Milling Inserts
Milling tools configured to increase surface roughness are disclosed. The tool may include an elongated body having a longitudinal axis and a plurality of cutting inserts coupled to the body and spaced along the longitudinal axis, each cutting insert having a cutting edge. In one embodiment, the cutting edges may have an orientation that is oblique to the longitudinal axis of the elongated body. Each cutting edge may have a first end having a greater cutting radius than a second end. The cutting edges may be offset from the longitudinal axis of the elongated body by an offset angle. In another embodiment, the cutting edges may have a textured or rough surface profile. For example, the cutting edges may have a mean roughness (Rz) of at least 7.5 m. The milling tools may increase the surface roughness of a milled engine bore to facilitate a subsequent rough honing process.
Insert for slot milling
The present invention relates to an insert for slot milling, and more specifically, to an insert for slot milling which can smoothly form a front end surface of a concave portion of a slot formed at a cutting target, and provides a safe use thereof by preventing the erroneous installation of cutting inserts coupled with insert-installation seats on both sides of a milling cutter body to prevent damage of the cutting inserts and the milling cutter. To this end, the present invention is characterized in that the plurality of cutting inserts are provided around the slot milling cutter body, one of two cutting inserts protrudes with respect to one side of the milling cutter body and the other protrudes with respect to the opposite side of the milling cutter body, and two cutting inserts are formed with different structures to prevent the erroneous installation thereof on the insert-installation seats prepared on both sides of the milling cutter body.
