COATED CUTTING TOOL
A coated cutting tool includes a substrate and a coating layer formed onto the surface of the substrate. The coating layer contains an outermost layer. The outermost layer contains NbN. The NbN contains cubic NbN and hexagonal NbN. When a peak intensity at a (200) plane of cubic NbN is made I.sub.c, a peak intensity at a (101) plane of the hexagonal NbN is made I.sub.h1, and a sum of peak intensities at a (103) plane and a (110) plane of the hexagonal NbN is made I.sub.h2 in X-ray diffraction analysis, a ratio [I.sub.h1/(I.sub.h1+I.sub.c)] of I.sub.h1 based on a sum of I.sub.c and I.sub.h1 is 0.5 or more and less than 1.0, and a ratio [I.sub.h1/(I.sub.h1+I.sub.h2)] of I.sub.h1 based on a sum of I.sub.h1 and I.sub.h2 is 0.5 or more and 1.0 or less.
Rigid universal cartridge for holding system
The present invention provides a rigid cartridge for multiple and universal application of all machining processes. The rigid cartridge includes a cylindrical body, a guiding and locating body connected to bottom side of cylindrical body, and a combination screw having a left hand [LH] thread and a right hand [RH] thread, wherein the cylindrical body includes a flat for locking the cartridge with the cutter body using locking screws, wherein the combination screw is connected to the bottom end of said guiding and locating body. The LH thread can be provided in cartridge side and RH thread can be provided in cutter body side or vice versa. In the cutter body or boring bar, a slot and/or approach hole can be provided in the cutter body for enabling to rotate the combination screw in clockwise or anti-clockwise direction to move the cartridge in forward and backward direction with respect to the cutter body.
CUTTING TOOL AND CUTTING METHOD
A shaft portion and a blade portion provided on a side surface of the shaft portion are included, and the blade portion includes cutting blades arranged in a plurality of lines on a side surface of the shaft portion along a peripheral direction, and arranged in a plurality of stages in an extending direction of a shaft center of the shaft portion in each line. Further, the cutting blade has a radial-direction clearance angle, a tip end-side clearance angle, and a base end-side clearance angle.
CUTTER ASSEMBLY AND METHODS FOR MAKING SAME
A cutter assembly for a cutting tool has a super-hard volume of super-hard material having a proximal end and a distal end and including a cavity; and a cover member. The super-hard volume has a super-hard surface at the distal end including a cutting edge. The cavity has a cavity open end at the distal end. The super-hard surface includes a cavity peripheral area coterminous with the cavity open end and the cover member has a cover peripheral area configured to mate with the cavity peripheral area to allow the cover member to cover the cavity at the cavity open end, the covered cavity providing a housing chamber within the super-hard volume. A method of making a cutter assembly is also disclosed.

A milling head for a ball track milling cutter includes an imaginary center axis, a first, working-side end and a second, clamping-side end opposite the first end when viewed along the central axis, and comprising at least one geometrically defined cutting edge, extending along a cutting edge profile of the cutting edge from a first cutting edge end facing the first end of the milling head in the direction of the second end of the milling head up to a second cutting edge end facing the second end of the milling head, wherein at least one cutting edge is formed as an intersecting line between the rake face associated with at least one cutting edge and a first flank face associated with at least one cutting edge, wherein at least one cutting edge is assigned a negative rake angle, a first clearance angle and a wedge angle. It is provided that a value of the negative rake angle in the region of the first cutting edge end has a different value than in the region of the second cutting edge end, that the first clearance angle in the region of the first cutting edge end has a different value than in the region of the second cutting edge end, and that the wedge angle along the cutting edge profile is constant.
CUTTING TOOL WITH PCD INSERTS, SYSTEMS INCORPORATING SAME AND RELATED METHODS
A cutting tool which may be used in machining various material may include a body and one or more cutting elements associated therewith. In one example, the cutting element(s) may comprise a superhard table, such as a polycrystalline diamond table. In some embodiments, the polycrystalline diamond table may have a diamond density of approximately 95 percent volume or greater. In some embodiments, the thickness of the superhard table may be approximately 0.15 inch. In some embodiments, the superhard table may include a chip-breaking feature or structure. Methods of shaping, finishing, or otherwise machining materials are also provided, including the machining of materials comprising titanium.

A base material for a hard sintered material has a multi-stage columnar shape having a central axis and extending in an axial direction of the central axis. The base material includes a smaller-diameter portion, a larger-diameter portion, a base material end surface located between a one end portion in the axial direction of an outer peripheral surface of the larger-diameter portion and the other end portion in the axial direction of the smaller-diameter portion, and facing toward the one end portion in the axial direction, and a first inclined portion disposed in at least a portion in a circumferential direction of an annular corner portion to which an outer peripheral surface of the larger-diameter portion and the base material end surface are connected. The first inclined portion is located inward in a radial direction toward the one end portion in the axial direction.
BASE MATERIAL FOR HARD SINTERED BODY, HARD SINTERED BODY, AND CUTTING TOOL
A base material for a hard sintered body includes a pillar portion having a central axis and extending in the axial direction of the central axis. The pillar portion has a first outer peripheral portion, a second outer peripheral portion, and a protruding stripe portion. In the cross-sectional view, one side portion of the first outer peripheral portion extending in a circumferential direction or a radial direction is located inside the other side portion. In the cross-sectional view, one side portion of the second outer peripheral portion extending in the circumferential direction or the radial direction is located outside the other side portion in the radial direction. The protruding stripe portion is located in a connection portion between the other side portion of the first outer peripheral portion and one side portion of the second outer peripheral portion, and protrudes outward.
