A milling tool is disclosed. The milling tool may include an elongated body having a longitudinal axis and a plurality of cutting inserts. The cutting inserts may each have a cutting edge and a cutting radius and be coupled to the body and spaced along the longitudinal axis. One or more of the plurality of cutting inserts may be adjustable (e.g., mechanically adjustable) between first and second cutting radii. A difference between the first and second cutting radii may be at least 10 m. The milling tool may include cutting inserts having a plurality of different cutting radii. The milling tool may be configured to have a length that spans an entire height of an engine bore. The cutting inserts having different radii may compensate for dimensional errors in an engine bore diameter that occur when milling a deep pocket.

A cutting tool according to an aspect of the present disclosure includes a cutting edge portion which contains at least one of cubic boron nitride and polycrystalline diamond. The cutting edge portion includes a flank face, a negative land contiguous to the flank face, and a cutting edge formed by a ridgeline between the flank face and the negative land. At least one of the negative land and the flank face is provided with a plurality of recesses and a projection. The projection is formed by arranging the edges of adjacent recesses in contact with each other.

Provided is a surface-coated cutting tool including: a tool body (3) and a hard coating layer on the tool body (3). The hard coating layer has an alternate laminate structure of A (1) and B layers (2). The A layer (1) is a Ti and Al complex nitride layer satisfying a compositional formula: (Ti.sub.1-zAl.sub.z)N, 0.4z0.7. The B layer (2) is a Cr, Al and M complex nitride layer satisfying a compositional formula: (Cr.sub.1-x-yAl.sub.xM.sub.y)N, 0.03x0.4 and 0y0.05. The value of a ratio tB/tA of the average layer thickness of the B layer (2) to the average layer thickness of the A layer (1) satisfies 0.67 to 2.0. The lattice constant a() of crystal grains of the hard coating layer satisfies 4.10a4.20. The ratio of I(200) to I(111) satisfies 2.0I(200)/I(111)10.

CUTTING TOOL

A cutting tool includes a shaft portion and a plurality of edge region groups. The ridgeline between the first rake face portion and the first flank face portion constitutes a first cutting edge portion. The ridgeline between the second rake face portion and the second flank face portion constitutes a second cutting edge portion. As seen from the direction perpendicular to a plane tangent to the outer peripheral surface, in a state where the central axis overlaps a first end on the front end side of the first cutting edge portion, the inclination angle of the first cutting edge portion relative to the central axis is larger than the inclination angle of a straight line relative to the central axis, the straight line connecting the first end to a second end on the front end side of the second cutting edge portion.

A cutting tool according to one aspect of the present disclosure includes an attaching portion, a cutting portion having a core portion and a surface portion, and a joint portion. The attaching portion includes a hard component and a hard material. The hard component is at least one selected from the group consisting of TiC, TiCN, W, WC, Al.sub.2O.sub.3, and a combination of at least one of CBN and diamond and at least one of W and WC. The hard material includes one or two or more types of iron group elements, and has a Young's modulus of not more than 350 GPa. The core portion includes a cemented carbide material. The surface portion includes PCD or CBN. The cutting portion has a chamfer portion. The surface portion includes a groove, a flank face, and a cutting edge. The cutting edge extends toward the attaching portion.

CUTTING TOOL

A cutting tool according to an aspect of the present disclosure includes a shank, a joint, and a cutting portion attached through the joint to the shank. The cutting portion includes a core and a surface portion. The surface portion is disposed around a central axis of the cutting portion to cover an outer circumferential surface of the core. The surface portion includes a cutting edge. The cutting edge is disposed on an outer circumferential surface of the surface portion and formed in a helical shape about the central axis. The surface portion is a composite sintered material including a hard phase formed of a plurality of diamond particles and a plurality of cubic boron nitride particles, and a binder phase forming the remainder.
