Apparatus, System and Method for Mechanical, Selective Weed Control in Mature and Establishing Crops Including Turfgrasses
20170208794 · 2017-07-27 ·

An apparatus for applying a desired amount of mechanical abrasion to plants is provided. The apparatus includes a base, a brush and an elevation device for maintaining the base at desirable height. The base has a first longitudinal axis and a plurality of grooves, the grooves being oriented approximately perpendicular to the first longitudinal axis. The brush has a second longitudinal axis and a plurality of bristles and/or blades extending outwardly from the second longitudinal axis. The brush is attached to the apparatus such that the second longitudinal axis is substantially parallel to the first longitudinal axis and the brush is rotatable about the second longitudinal axis. The brush is spaced from the base such that the plurality of bristles engage the plurality of grooves. The base is adjustable enabling the operator to move the base closer or further from the rotating brush/blades.

Lift Attachment System
20170208733 · 2017-07-27 ·

A lift attachment system for providing adjustment such as lifting and lower to various attachments being towed by a vehicle. The system generally includes a base frame which is removably connected to a vehicle, such as at its rear frame. A support frame is pivotally connected to the base frame. An actuator is connected between the support frame and the base frame such that the support frame may pivotally adjust with respect to the base frame. The support frame includes a width-adjustable attachment mount which is adapted to removably receive one of a plurality of different attachments. By removably connecting the attachment to the support frame, the attachment may be pivotally adjusted (such as lifted or lowered) via activation of the actuator. By connecting the base frame to a vehicle, one may adjust an attachment while in use on a vehicle to improve efficiency and prevent constant manual adjustments.

Mechanical Device to Selectively Defoliate Lawn Weeds
20250040534 · 2025-02-06 ·

A mechanical device is presented to mechanically remove weeds in a lawn instead of chemical herbicides. The inventive device utilizes a motor driven horizontal spindle with a large number of closely spaced strings of equal length are attached turning at high speed which do the cutting. The vertically rotating strings selectively defoliates any vegetation that has lateral shoots or broad leaves. Turf grasses have narrow leaves and minimal lateral growth and so allow the rotating strings to pass through with little resistance like a comb going through hair and causes much less damage to the grass leaves. The horizontal spindle can be as long as desired covering a wide path through the lawn as long as the motor has enough power to handle the workload.

Autonomous ground surface treatment systems, vehicles, and methods

A ground surface treatment vehicle and systems and methods using the same. In some embodiments, the vehicle may be adapted to autonomously or semi-autonomously identify and optionally treat target areas such as divots on turf surfaces. The vehicle may identify the target area via onboard or remote sensors and autonomously treat the target area by providing a treating material such as infill, seed, particulate matter, and liquids.
