Chain saws, components for chain saws, and systems for operating saws

Improved chain saws, components for chain saws, methods of making chain saws and components, and methods of using chain saws and components are disclosed. In some embodiments, a chain saw comprises a saw bar and a plurality of links, wherein a first link has a hook that engages a recess of a second link, thereby coupling the first link and the second link and allowing them to articulate without decoupling. The saw bar may have a rail, and the links may have grooves such that the links straddle and ride over the rail. The rail may have a projection and the grooves of the links may have notches accommodating the projection such that the projection prevents dislocation of the links. The links may have conical or pyramidal cutting teeth. The chain may be bidirectional. Robotic and automated operation of saws and other instruments are also disclosed.

Electric power work device

Provided is an electric power work device, which is a chain saw, including: a body case; a cutting part protruding forward from the body case; a motor to drive the cutting part, and a battery. A top handle is provided at an upside with respect to the body case, and, a side handle is provided at a left side surface of the body case. The battery is detachably mounted in a battery part formed behind the top handle. Further, interference reduction part is formed behind the top handle to reduce interference with a palm holding the top handle or a wrist.

Firefighter's appliance

A system for simultaneously supplying compressed air to the personal breathing apparatus of a firefighter and to an internal combustion engine appliance, such as a chainsaw. The supply of air intake of the chainsaw is provided by means of an adapter which is configured to attach to both the air intake of the chainsaw and to a demand valve-type regulator.

Power tool

A power tool has a tool unit arranged between housing and housing cover. A stud bolt secured on the housing projects through a cover opening to the exterior. A support sleeve of the housing cover is provided with the cover opening and with a support surface for a fastening element screwed onto the stud bolt to secure the housing cover on the housing. The fastening element has a first section arranged at the cover exterior and delimited by a circumferential contour with flats. A maximum radial distance of the outer circumference of the support sleeve relative to the longitudinal center axis of the stud bolt at the support surface and at an adjoining first section of the support sleeve is at most as large as half the width across flats of the fastening element; a tool engaging the flats thus fits across the first section of the support sleeve.

An operator operates a throttle lever and by maximizing the extent of said operation, the drive state is initiated, and the crank shaft rotation rate R increases and reaches the maximal value (RC) thereof. Subsequently, the operator operates the dressing operation lever so as to be in a second state at elapsed time (t0) while keeping the extent of the throttle lever operation maximized. Because a microswitch is turned off, the crank shaft rotation rate (R) is controlled in a range of R1<R<R2. By placing the saw chain in contact with a grindstone fixed to the dressing operation lever simultaneously with said action, dressing work is performed. After the microswitch is turned off at elapsed time (t0), the output of an ignition coil is controlled cyclically by a control unit at a cycle (T1+T2) so as to be on (ignition) during period (T1) and off (flame off) during period (T2).

HANDHELD PORTABLE CUTTING APPARATUS HAVING A CUTTER UNIT
20180133818 · 2018-05-17 ·

A handheld portable cutting apparatus having a cutter unit with a cutter unit longitudinal axis. In a central housing section of the cutting apparatus, a drive connection is arranged between an electric drive motor and the cutter unit, wherein a motor housing having a motor housing longitudinal axis extends from the central housing section. A handle extends from the central housing section in a handle longitudinal axis. The cutter unit includes a guide bar with a saw chain circulating thereon, wherein, in a side view onto the cutting apparatus, the point of intersection (S1) between the handle longitudinal axis and the motor housing longitudinal axis and also the point of intersection (S2) between the handle longitudinal axis and the cutter unit longitudinal axis lie in the central housing section.

Hand-Guided Power Tool

A power tool has a handle operatively connected with vibration damping across a vibration gap to a drive motor with throttle element. An actuating device on the handle actuates the throttle element pivotably supported in a housing. A coupling element bridging the vibration gap connects actuating device to throttle element. The actuation movement of the actuation device is transmitted as rotation about an axis transverse to the vibration gap. An intermediate element is pivotably supported on an actuating element connected to the throttle element. The coupling element acts on the intermediate element and, over part of the actuation movement, contacts a contact region of the intermediate element. A guide for the intermediate element changes a position of the contact region relative to the housing based on a rotational position of the actuating element by changing a pivot position of the intermediate element relative to the housing.

CHAINSAW

A power tool includes a switch moveable between a first position enabling activation of a motor and a second position disabling the motor. The power tool includes a trigger movably coupled to a housing of the power tool between an OFF position and an ON position. The switch moves from the second position to the first position in response to the trigger moving from the OFF position to the ON position. The power tool includes a trigger lock-off pivotably coupled to the housing between a lock position and an unlock position. The trigger lock-off is engageable with the trigger to inhibit movement of the trigger from the OFF position to the ON position when the trigger lock-off is in the lock position. The trigger lock-off allows movement of the trigger from the OFF position to the ON position when the trigger lock-off is in the unlock position.
