METHOD FOR ALLEVIATING ARTHRITIS WITH POSTBIOTIC EXTRACT
20220096572 · 2022-03-31 ·

A method for alleviating arthritis includes administering to a subject in need thereof a postbiotic extract. The postbiotic extract is prepared by a process including the steps of providing a first material having a first isoelectric point ranging from pH 1 to pH 6 and a second material having a second isoelectric point ranging from pH 4 to pH 8, admixing the first material and a probiotic microorganism with water having a pH greater than the second isoelectric point, so as to forma mixture, adding the second material into the mixture and then adjusting a pH of the second material-added mixture to between the first and second isoelectric points so that a precipitate is formed, and subjecting the precipitate to a cell wall isolation treatment to obtain the postbiotic extract.

Recombinant HCMV and RHCMV vectors and uses thereof

The present disclosure relates to recombinant rhesus cytomegalovirus (RhCMV) and human cytomegalovirus (HCMV) vectors encoding heterologous antigens, such as pathogen-specific antigens or tumor antigens, which may be used, for example, for the treatment or prevention of infectious disease or cancer. The recombinant RhCMV or HCMV vectors elicit and maintain high level cellular immune responses specific for the heterologous antigen while including deletions in one or more genes essential or augmenting for CMV replication, dissemination or spread.

PEPTIDE FRAGMENTS FROM FILOVIRUSES AND THEIR USES

Isolated peptides comprising one or more antigenic sites of filovirus glycoprotein and methods of their use and production are disclosed. Nucleic acid molecules encoding the peptides are also provided. In several embodiments, the peptides can be used to induce an immune response to filovirus glycoprotein, such as Zaire ebolavirus glycoprotein, in a subject, for example, to treat or prevent infection of the subject with the virus.

Influenza virus hemagglutinin proteins and uses thereof

Provided herein are chimeric hemagglutinin (HA) polypeptides and uses thereof for inducing an immune response (e.g., an antibody response) against influenza virus. Also provided herein are methods of generating antibodies to the chimeric HA polypeptides in a subject.

Cathelicidin-expressing lactic acid bacteria
20220064239 · 2022-03-03 ·

The disclosure discloses cathelicidin-expressing lactic acid bacteria, and belongs to the technical field of genetic engineering. The disclosure constructs Lactococcus. lactis and Lactobacillus. plantarum expressing a CRAMP protein by optimizing the nucleotide sequence of the CRAMP protein. The Lactobacillus constructed in the disclosure can be used to prepare a vaccine for regulation of intestinal flora disorder, and has advantages in regulation of intestinal flora and intestinal immune response and maintenance. An anaculture can be directly taken as an oral vaccine to stimulate mice and cause a strong cellular immune response. The recombinant L. lactis can be used as a new oral vaccine product with good industrial prospects, plays a positive role in reducing intestinal inflammation, and has important practical significance for promoting health development of the intestinal tract.

Immunogenic compositions comprising FIV and HIV gag antigens

The subject invention pertains to materials and methods for detecting, preventing and treating retroviral infections in humans and other animals susceptible to infection by retrovirus. It has been discovered that FIV can be transmitted from cats to humans and that the FIV can infect human cells in vivo and that antibodies generated by the infected person cross-react with HIV antigens. Thus, the methods and compositions of the subject invention can be used to detect, prevent and treat FIV infection in humans and other non-feline animals that are susceptible to FIV infection. The methods and compositions of the invention can also be used to prevent and treat infection by HIV in humans.

METHODS FOR GENERATING BROADLY REACTIVE, PAN-EPITOPIC IMMUNOGENS, COMPOSITIONS AND METHODS OF USE THEREOF

Provided herein are methods for generating a non-naturally occurring, broadly reactive, pan-epitopic antigen derived from a pathogen, such as a virus, bacterium, and the like, that is immunogenic and is capable of eliciting a broadly reactive immune response, such as a broadly reactive neutralizing antibody response, against the pathogen following introduction into a subject. Also provided is a non-naturally occurring immunogen generated using the methods, and vaccines and compositions comprising the immunogen. Methods of generating an immune response in a subject by administering the immunogen, vaccine, or composition are provided. In particular, the immunogen comprises the hemagglutinin (HA) or neuraminidase (NA) protein of influenza virus strains.
