A wire feeder includes an exterior housing and in interior housing that creates an interstitial spaced that is disposed between the exterior and interior housing. This housing structure reduces weight of the wire feeder while maintaining the structural rigidness required of a wire feeder. This housing structure also promotes improved cooling features for the wire feeder and the components disposed within the wire feeder. The exterior housing may be constructed of a materials that reduces the likelihood of being damaged. The wire feeder may be further equipped with a strain relief device for the incoming supply cables, and an interchangeable cable connector. The wire feeder may also be equipped with removable wire guides for the wire feeder mechanism that are toolless. The wire feeder may be equipped with accessory storage and attachment features, as well as a cost reduced repositionable control panel.

An example system includes an additive manufacturing tool configured to receive a wire from a wire feeder, to receive current from a power source, and to supply the wire to a workpiece during an additive manufacturing process, and a mechanical oscillation system configured to mechanically oscillate a structural component toward and away from the workpiece, wherein the structural component is external to the wire feeder and the power source.

A plasma arc welding system includes at least two wire delivery mechanisms and at least two wires. Each of the two wires is delivered by one of the at least two wire delivery mechanisms.

Embodiments of the present invention are wire feeders and wire feeder cable connections which include a power block portion, a cable connection portion and a liner guide assembly portion. An example wire feeder includes: a frame; a receptacle configured to transfer welding-type current to a welding torch via a torch connector, and to position the torch connector to receive a wire electrode; one or more drive rolls configured to drive the wire electrode to the welding torch, the one or more drive rolls being electrically insulated from the frame, and wherein the wire electrode is electrically insulated from the frame; and a sensor configured to determine at least one of a voltage or an impedance between a first point electrically coupled to the wire electrode and a reference point.

A wire guide module for guiding and changing the direction of wire in a wire dispensing system. The wire guide module having an inner passageway with rollers. The rollers adjacent the inner passageway assist the wire in moving smoothly through the wire guide module as the shape of the inner passageway changing the direction of movement of the wire. A wire dispensing system having wire guide modules with rollers which change the direction of the wire while reducing damage to the wire.
