Bisphosphonate-Modified Liposomes Containing Nanoparticles
The invention relates to liposomes containing nanoparticles, wherein the nanoparticles are selected from magnetic, zparamagnetic, superparamagnetic and/or fluorescent and/or functionalized nanoparticles, and the liposomal sleeve contains lipid-derivatized bisphosphonic acid. The liposomes are suitable for preparing a solution for the diagnosis of pathological tissue degeneration or conversion processes on the bone and in the bone marrow, in particular for the treatment and diagnosis of bone tumors and bone metastases and disorders in the bone marrow (proliferative diseases of the blood-producing and lymphoreticular system).
METHOD OF USING HIGH-FREQUENCY SOUND WAVES
The present disclosure related to a method of using high frequency sound waves directed toward an acoustically active particle. The high frequency sound waves may be configured to enlarge the acoustically active particle and oscillate the acoustically active particle, thereby facilitating extravasation of an agent to a tissue compartment of a region of interest.
Carbon-based particles for vapour bubble generation
A method for generating vapour bubbles in an object comprises introducing a composition into the object, the composition comprising carbon-based nano- or microparticles that can couple with a photon wave of electromagnetic radiation. The method also comprises irradiating said object using electromagnetic radiation. The irradiation thereby is adapted for using a set of carbon-based nano- or microparticles for subsequently forming first vapour bubbles and at least second vapour bubbles using the same carbon-based nano- or microparticles.
METHOD FOR FABRICATION OF NANOSTRUCTURE
A method for fabricating a nanostructure comprises adding a fungal mycelium (114) in a growth vessel (110). The growth vessel (110) comprising a growth medium (118). In the next step, the nanostructure is added in the growth vessel (110) which is then absorbed by the fungal mycelium (114) and finally distributed throughout the fungal mycelium (114). Further, a delivery vehicle for payload (206) is also disclosed which comprises the fabricated nanostructure.
Surfactant microbubbles and process for preparing and methods of using the same
The invention relates to an ultrasound contrast agent (UCA) comprising an outer shell and a gas core. The gas core is filled with oxygen, and the outer shell comprises a first surfactant and a second surfactant. The invention also relates to a method of making an oxygen-filled UCA and delivering oxygen to a local area of a subject's body. The method comprises injecting a composition comprising an oxygen-filled UCA of the invention into the subject's body; directing ultrasound radiation to the local area in an intensity sufficient to rupture the UCA.
COATED HOLLOW AND EVACUATED INSULATION SPHERES (CEIS)
An insulation medium invention includes a plurality of microspheres. Each microsphere comprises a porous core comprising a porous core material and having an exterior surface, a gas within the porous core, and a coating layer coating all of the exterior surface of the porous core. The coating layer comprises a coating material which transitions from a first state to a second state. In the first state, the coating material is permeable to the gas. In the second state the material is impermeable to the gas. The coating material in the second state is configured to encapsulate and maintain partial vacuum of the gas inside the porous core. In one embodiment, in the second state the coating is impermeable to air. Insulated structures, a method of making an insulation medium, a fluid storage media, and a method of delivering a fluid are also disclosed.
PREVENTION OR TREATMENT OF CARDIAC ARRHYTMIA AND SUDDEN CARDIAC DEATH
The present disclosure concerns agents for use in a new therapeutic application for the prevention or treatment of cardiac arrhythmia and sudden cardiac death. More specifically, the present disclosure concerns an expression construct capable of enhancing expression of TBX5 in a subject to be treated, for use in the prevention or monotherapeutic treatment of a ventricular heart disease and associated complications selected from cardiac arrhythmia and sudden cardiac death.
Coated nanoparticles for use for modulating electrical polarization of neurons
The present invention relates to the medical field, in particular to the modulation of electrical polarization of neurons. More specifically the present invention relates to a nanoparticle or nanoparticles' aggregate for use for modulating electrical polarization of neurons in a subject, for example for use in prevention or treatment of a neuronal disease in a subject, typically by modulating electrical polarization of neurons in the subject, wherein i) when the nanoparticle or nanoparticles' aggregate is exposed to a light source, the nanoparticle's or nanoparticles' aggregate's material is selected from a material enabling opto-electric transduction, opto-thermal transduction or opto-optical transduction, ii) when the nanoparticle or nanoparticles' aggregate is exposed to a magnetic field, the nanoparticle's or nanoparticles' aggregate's material is selected from a material enabling magneto-electric transduction or magneto-thermal transduction, iii) when the nanoparticle or nanoparticles' aggregate's surface is exposed to an ultrasound source, the nanoparticle's or nanoparticles' aggregate's material is a material enabling acousto-electric transduction, and wherein the nanoparticle or nanoparticles' aggregate is either neutrally charged in the absence of any coating or is coated with a hydrophilic agent conferring a neutral surface charge to the nanoparticle or nanoparticles' aggregate. It further relates to compositions and kits comprising such nanoparticles and/or nanoparticles' aggregates as well as to uses thereof.
LIPID PRODRUGS FOR USE IN DRUG DELIVERY
The present disclosure describes the synthesis and use of lipid prodrugs that self-assemble into lipid microbubbles or liposomes. The prodrug-loaded microbubbles or liposomes can be activated intracellularly using an external stimulus, for example, using ultrasound waves.
COMPOSITION COMPRISING AT LEAST ONE NANOBOMB SUITABLE FOR ALTERING A BIOLOGICAL BARRIER
A composition comprising at least one nanobomb comprising at least one first particle and at least one second particle in close proximity to the first particle. The at least one first particle is able to absorb electromagnetic radiation so as to generate a vapor bubble. The generation of the vapor bubble causes the at least one second particle to be propelled over a distance D.
