METHOD OF ASSEMBLING TWO SHEET METAL COMPONENTS SUCH AS VEHICLE BODYWORK COMPONENTS
20170259370 · 2017-09-14 ·

The invention relates to a method of assembling two sheet metal elements (1, 1′), involving applying a bead of adhesive to a first element, assembling the second sheet metal element on the first and securing it by spot welds to hold the two sheet metal elements stationary before curing the adhesive. The invention consists in the fact that the bead of adhesive is applied discontinuously to the first sheet metal element (1) along an adhesive line and then, once the second sheet metal element (1′) has been pressed against the first, the two elements (1, 1′) are held fixed together by creating spot welds on sections of the discontinuous adhesive line that are devoid of adhesive.

Battery carrier for an electric motor vehicle, having a trough formed by a base and a peripheral frame coupled to the base, wherein the frame is formed from extruded hollow profiles and a cover is arranged on the frame. In the installation position, the frame has a web protruding in each case in relation to its upper side and/or lower side in such a manner that a defined gap with respect to the base and/or with respect to the cover is produced, with a sealant and/or adhesive being incorporated.

METAL JOINED BODY AND PRODUCTION METHOD THEREFOR

A metal joined body has an iron base body and an aluminum base body that are joined together via a joint layer. The joint layer has a first layer composed of a first intermetallic compound formed on the iron base body side and a second layer composed of a second intermetallic compound formed on the aluminum base body side. The first layer has one or more first protrusions that merge integrally into the iron base body and extend in a pile shape into the first intermetallic compound. The second layer may have one or more second protrusions that are composed of a second intermetallic compound and extend in a columnar shape into the aluminum base body. The first intermetallic compound may contain Al.sub.5Fe.sub.2, and the second intermetallic compound may contain Al.sub.3Fe. The total thickness of the first layer and the second layer is, for example, 2 to 15 μm.

A welder containing a weld part, a clamp and a number of tools that is for welding metal wires end-to-end to one another. The tools have a tool indicator that is either in complete or in non-complete condition, and can be processing tools used to finish the weld or testing tools allowing testing the weld once finished. Before starting the welding the first metal wire is held in the clamp. By that action all tool indicators are set to the non-complete condition. When a processing tool has been used, its processing tool indicator is set to complete. When the weld has passed the specification of a testing tool, the testing tool indicator is set to complete. When each processing and testing tool indicator is set to complete the clamp will open. In this case it is sure that the operator has done all necessary steps and checks on the weld.
