Device for changing electrode caps of a welding unit and welding method
A device is configured for changing electrode caps of a welding unit. The device includes at least one reserve unit configured to hold in reserve electrode caps which are required for welding with the welding unit. The device also includes a cap changing unit configured to change an electrode cap mounted on a welding tool for another electrode cap held in reserve in the reserve unit. The cap changing unit is configured to arrange the electrode cap demounted from the welding tool in the at least one reserve unit.
CUTTING CUTTER FOR TIP DRESSING, AND TIP DRESSER
The present disclosure reduces equipment failures, decreases maintenance frequency, and stabilizes cutting operation. Specifically, a holder (5) includes a fitting surface (52) capable of fitting a distal end (2a) of an electrode tip (2). A cutting member (6) having a cutting blade (6b) is attached to the holder (5) and the cutting blade (6b) cuts the distal end (2a) of the electrode tip (2) by rotating the holder (5). On the fitting surface (52), a plurality of grooves (52a) extending arcuately around the rotation axis (C1) as the center thereof are consecutively formed adjacent to each other toward the rotation axis (C1).
Welding electrode with radial-serrated weld face and method of forming and reforming weld face
A welding electrode for an electric resistance welding process. The welding electrode includes a body extending along a center axis and terminating axially at a weld face for contacting a work face. The weld face defines a center along the axis and defines an outer edge spaced radially from the center. A plurality of senates are defined along the weld face. Each of the serrates projects axially away from the weld face and extends radially from the center axis to the outer edge of the weld face. A higher density of the plurality of serrates is formed proximate to the center axis than proximate to the outer circumference of the weld face. Methods for using the welding electrode and forming the senates on the welding electrode are also provided.
Welding assemblies for dressing electrode tips and methods of dressing electrode tips
A welding assembly includes a tip dress unit for dressing an electrode tip and a tip cleaning unit having a brush rotating during a cleaning operation. The tip cleaning unit is used to clean the electrode tip prior to the electrode tip being moved to the tip dress unit. The brush may be a wire brush. The brush may clean multiple electrode tips simultaneously. The brush may remove debris, such as sealer, oil, or particles from the electrode tip. The tip cleaning unit may include a shield at least partially surrounding the brush.
TIP DRESSER BLADE
Provided is a tip dresser blade comprising a body of M-2 steel hardened to a Rockwell C hardness in the range of 63 to 66, inclusive, by double tempering. The body may be ground to provide a specific first geometry, or a specific second geometry, or a specific third geometry, or a specific fourth geometry.
TIP DRESSER BLADE
Provided is a tip dresser blade blank comprising a casting of M-2 steel hardened to a Rockwell C hardness in the range of 63 to 66, inclusive, by double tempering. The casting may be ground to provide a specific first geometry or a specific second geometry.
Resistance spot welding steel and aluminum workpieces using electrode weld face cover
A method of resistance spot welding a steel workpiece and an aluminum or aluminum alloy (aluminum) workpiece together includes several steps. One step involves providing a workpiece stack-up with a steel workpiece and an aluminum workpiece. Another step involves attaching a cover over a weld face of a welding electrode. The cover is made of a metal material with an electrical resistivity that is greater than an electrical resistivity of a material of the welding electrode. Yet another step involves performing multiple individual resistance spot welds to the workpiece stack-up. The cover abuts the aluminum workpiece while the individual resistance spot welds are performed. And another step involves removing the cover from the welding electrode after the individual spot welds are performed.
Inspection apparatus for welding tip of spot welding gun and analysis method for pollution and array of welding tip using the same
The present invention discloses methods and apparatus for increasing inspection efficiency and reducing time for analyzing an image when inspecting contamination and alignment of the welding tip of the spot welding gun. An apparatus for inspecting a welding tip according to some embodiments of the present invention is configured to inspect the contamination and the alignment of the welding tip based on an end-surface image and a profile image of the welding tip. In particular, when recording the welding tip through an internal housing arranged in an internal space of an external housing, the noise generated from an external light source can be blocked, and hence the contamination and the alignment of the welding tip can be inspected by using a clearer image, thus improving the accuracy of the inspection.
SWING ARM ASSEMBLY WITH LIFT ASSEMBLY
A swing arm assembly is provided for a spot welding machine. The swing arm assembly can accommodate a tip dresser or a tip exchanger and can include a lift assembly that can translate the tip dresser from a first position to a second position along a lateral axis.
Method for grinding electrode tip
Provided is a method for grinding electrode tips such that the method is capable of detecting irregular grinding when the maximum torque does not occur. Specifically, a tip dresser includes a holder holding a cutter, a servo motor unit allowing the holder to rotate, and a controller controlling the operation of the servo motor unit. The servo motor unit outputs a torque occurrence signal to the controller when a load torque reaches a predetermined value in regular grinding of a pair of electrode tips. The controller detects irregular grinding when not receiving the torque occurrence signal within a time that corresponds to an elapsed time in the regular grinding.
