APPARATUS, SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR A BRAZED JOINT***Contact is Rocky C.
The disclosed apparatus, systems and methods relate to the design principles for forming a welded joint between two sections of tubing or pipe. The material at the end portion of a first section of tubing to is folded inwardly to create a support surface. This support surface improves the ability to weld light gage material with traditional arc welding and it creates conditions to allow brazing to be as strong as traditional arc welding by using A shaped piece of filler material which is located at the intersection between the support surface of the first section of tubing and a side wall section of the second section of tubing. While holding together the first and second sections of tubing with the filler material, heat is applied at the intersection at a temperature and for a duration sufficient to melt the filler material and form the 3t joint.
Thick, long seam welding system and method for distortion control and non post weld heat treatment of pipeline hot tap fittings
A method for limiting fitting distortion when welding a fitting to an in-service pipeline—where the fitting includes a thick, longitudinally extending, seam located between fitting halves—involves welding, on each side of the fitting, a middle third section of the seam in a pyramid-like fashion using an inward progression starting from an end of the middle third section along a profile of a seam bevel, and welding outer third sections of the seam using an outward progression from an end adjacent to the middle third section along a profile of the seam bevel. The welding of each of the three sections per side includes a temper bead welding technique of at least two layers to provide stress relief in lieu of traditional post weld heat treatment.
REPAIR WELDING METHOD
A repair welding method according to at least one embodiment is for a member in which a first end and a second end of a parent material are connected by welding and includes: a step of removing a portion including at least a part of a first heat-affected zone of an existing welded portion of the member; and a step of performing repair welding after removing the portion. In a cross-section including the parent material and the existing welded portion, all intersection portions between the first heat-affected zone of the existing welded portion and a second heat-affected zone due to the repair welding have an intersection angle between the first heat-affected zone and the second heat-affected zone of 70° to 110°.
OPTICAL FIBER CABLE WITH LASER WELDED JACKET AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURING
An optical cable and method for forming an optical cable is provided. The cable includes a cable jacket including an inner surface defining a channel and an outer surface. The cable includes a seam within the cable jacket that couples together opposing longitudinal edges of a wrapped thermoplastic sheet which forms the cable jacket and maintains the cable jacket in the wrapped configuration around the plurality of optical fibers. The method includes forming an outer cable jacket by wrapping a sheet of thermoplastic material around a plurality of optical core elements. The method includes laser welding together portions of thermoplastic material of opposing longitudinal edges of the wrapped sheet such that a seam is formed holding the sheet of thermoplastic material in the wrapped configuration around the core elements.
Device for preheating before welding and post-welding heat treatment of tank
The invention discloses a device for preheating before welding and post-welding heat treatment of tank. The device includes a first roller, two electric heating belts, calipers, a thermostat, two positioners and hinges. Both of the electric heating belts are arranged around the tank and distributed on both sides of the welded seam. A number of calipers are provided on both sides of each electric heating belt, one end of each caliper can operatively clamp the side of the electric heating belt, another end of each caliper is rotatably connected to a first roller. The hinge is connected to the electric heating belt, and one end of the hinge away from the electric heating belt is in a fixed state. The heating temperature of the electric heating belt is controlled, thereby realizing preheating of the tank before welding, heat preservation during welding and post-welding heat treatment without transferring. The electric heating belt will not rotate with the tank to ensure heat evenly, and the equipment connected with the electric heating belt will not be knotted, which improves the practicability.
DUAL METAL ADAPTER
An assembly includes at least one member having first and second ends. A dual metal adapter for connecting to the at least one member includes an inner tube for receiving and contacting the first end of the at least one member and being formed from a first metal having a first resistivity. An outer tube extends over the inner tube and is secured thereto. The outer tube is formed from a second metal having a second resistivity greater than the first resistivity. The first end of the at least one member is metallurgically bonded to the inner tube.
Core Bit Having a Spiral-Tube-Shaped Drill Shaft, and Method for Producing a Spiral-Tube-Shaped Drill Shaft for a Core Bit
A core bit for producing a borehole in a workpiece includes a cutting portion with one or more cutting segments, a drill shaft portion with a tubular drill shaft, and a connecting device which connects the cutting portion and the drill shaft portion releasably or non-releasably together. The tubular drill shaft is configured as a welded spiral tube.
METHOD FOR ATTACHING AN ANCHORAGE ELEMENT TO AN ELEMENT OF THE ARMOUR OF A FLEXIBLE PIPE, ASSOCIATED PIPE AND ASSOCIATED FITTING METHOD
A method for attaching at least one transverse anchorage element to an armor element intended to be housed in an end-fitting of a flexible pipe, including the following steps: the supply of an attachment device accepting an anchorage element; the bringing of an opening to face the armor element; the melting of one end of the anchorage element facing the armor element and of a region of the armor element facing the anchorage element, inside the cavity of the attachment device; the forging of the anchorage element transversely on the armor element, using the attachment device; and the formation of a weld connecting the anchorage element and the armor element.
Apparatus and method for strengthening welded-lap joints for steel pipeline
An apparatus and method for reinforcing a welded-lap pipe joint includes a first pipe segment having a bell-end presenting a receptacle, a spigot-end of a second pipe segment extending into and welded to the bell-end receptacle to form a welded-lap joint, and a bell-shaped reinforcing sleeve surrounding the welded-lap joint. In exemplary embodiments the reinforcing sleeve is welded to the first or second pipe segments. Also disclosed are a method of assembling a reinforced welded-lap pipe joint.
