There is disclosed a polishing-surface cleaning apparatus to which a polishing liquid, such as slurry, is less likely to be attached. The polishing-surface cleaning apparatus includes an arm having a fluid passage, a nozzle communicating with the fluid passage, and a weld material securing the nozzle to the arm. The weld material fills a gap between a bottom surface of the arm and an edge of a front-end surface of the nozzle.

METHOD FOR PRODUCING A WELDED RING

For producing a welded ring, a band of a length corresponding to the circumference of the ring is bent into a ring and its two ends are welded together. The band ends to be welded together have an offset in the circumferential direction of the ring, the offset lying in the plane of the band. The welding is performed from both lateral edges of the ring, from the outside to the inside up to the offset. Welding having an overall improved welding quality and a higher tensile strength is thus obtained.

LIQUID COOLING JACKET MANUFACTURING METHOD

The present invention includes a preparation step in which a stepped portion including step bottom and step side surfaces is formed along an edge of a jacket body, a placing step in which a sealing body is placed on the jacket body forming first and second butted sections, and a main joining step in which friction stir welding (FSW) is performed by moving a rotary tool along the first butted section with only a stirring pin of the rotary tool in contact with only the sealing body. During FSW, a central axis of rotation of the rotary tool is tilted towards a central or peripheral side of the jacket body so that the angle of tilt relative to a vertical plane equals the angle the stirring pin's outer circumferential surface makes with the central axis of rotation subtracted by the angle the step side surface makes with a vertical plane.

On the longitudinal section through the aligned workpieces, each of the first and second annular weld surfaces is flanked by radially inner and outer side surfaces, the first weld surface and its side surfaces being shaped to thermally match the second weld surface and its side surfaces across a line of initial contact of the first and second weld surfaces such the heat flows from the weld at all the side surfaces are substantially equal.

Joint component manufacturing method

Provided is a joint component manufacturing method for reducing occurrence of burrs upon bonding between a first member having a hole and a second member having a shaft portion and firmly bonding both members. In the method for manufacturing a joint component 100, a hole-side weak press-fit portion 112 is formed at a hole 111 of a flat plate ring-shaped first member 110. Moreover, each of a shaft-side weak press-fit portion 122 and a shaft-side strong press-fit portion 124 is formed at a shaft portion 121 of a cylindrical second member 120. The hole-side weak press-fit portion 112 and the shaft-side weak press-fit portion 122 are defined by a first weak press-fit interference Lw1 formed thinner than a first strong press-fit interference Ls1. The shaft-side strong press-fit portion 124 is defined by a first strong press-fit interference Ls1 as the minimum necessary press-fit interference for electric resistance welding upon electric resistance welding between the hole 111 and the shaft portion 121.

Method of joining by electron beam or laser welding a turbocharger turbine wheel to a shaft; corresponding turbocharger turbine wheel

A turbocharger wheel (4) and shaft (1) assembly exhibits a frustoconical geometry of welding zone contact surfaces extending to the outer circumference of the shaft (1). This frustoconical geometry not only allows continuous centering of the parts (1, 4) during joining, it also eliminates the problem of stress propagation along a plane. The location of the electron beam is shifted so that only the radially outer segment of the frustoconical contact surface is joined by welding, leaving a radially inner unmelted and unfused zone for maintaining firm contact of the oblique surfaces.
