As an inhalation powder medicine excellent in dispersibility, pulmonary delivery, and deposition, there is provided an inhalation powder medicine, containing: an active ingredient in at least a part of the porous hollow spherical particles that are capable of being dispersed and crushed into smaller particles by inspiration and capable of swelling when the porous hollow spherical particles absorb moisture, wherein the smaller particles are also capable of swelling when the smaller particles absorb moisture.

Methods and compositions for treatment of disorders and diseases involving RDH12

Codon optimized nucleic acid sequences for RDH12 are provided, as well as recombinant viral vectors, such as AAV, expression cassettes, proviral plasmids or other plasmids containing the codon optimized sequence for functional RDH12. Recombinant vectors are provided that express the codon optimized, functional RDH12. Compositions containing these codon optimized sequences are useful in methods for treating, retarding or halting certain blinding diseases resulting from the absence, deficiency or inappropriate expression of RDH12. Other compositions and methods are providing for correcting a non-functional, defective or inadequately expressed native RDH12.

Drug delivery particle and method for producing the same

An object of the present invention is to develop and provide a method for conveniently introducing a nucleic acid, a peptide, and/or a low-molecular-weight compound into an empty capsid with viral early infection activities kept. The present invention provides a method for producing a drug delivery particle, comprising the steps of: mixing an empty capsid or an empty particle with a drug including a nucleic acid, a peptide, and/or a low-molecular-weight compound in a solution comprising 0.1 to 20% of a surfactant; and keeping the obtained mixed solution at −5 to 50° C. to introduce the drug into the empty capsid or the empty particle.

Gene therapy for treating hemophilia B

Compositions for the treatment of hemophilia B are provided. In certain embodiments, the composition is a recombinant adeno-associated virus (rAAV) comprising an AAVrh10 capsid and a vector genome packaged therein, wherein the vector genome comprises an AAV 5′ inverted terminal repeat (ITR), a coding sequence for a human Factor IX (F9) having coagulation function operably linked to regulatory elements which direct expression of the human Factor IX in liver cells, and an AAV 3′ ITR.

Targeted delivery of drugs, therapeutic nucleic acids and functional nucleic acids to mammalian cells via intact killed bacterial cells

A composition comprising intact killed bacterial cells that contain a therapeutic nucleic acid, a drug or a functional nucleic acid is useful for targeted delivery to mammalian cells. The targeted delivery optionally employs bispecific ligands, comprising a first arm that carries specificity for a killed bacterial cell surface structure and a second arm that carries specificity for a mammalian cell surface receptor, to target killed bacterial cells to specific mammalian cells and to cause endocytosis of the killed bacterial cells by the mammalian cells. Alternatively, the delivery method exploits the natural ability of phagocytic mammalian cells to engulf killed bacterial cells without the use of bispecific ligands.
