LASER ASSISTED METAL ADHESION TO INDIUM TIN OXIDE ON GLASS, QUARTZ, SAPPHIRE AND SINGLE CRYSTAL SILICON WAFER SUBSTRATES FOR HEATED PLATFORMS FOR CELL CULTURING
A method for directly bonding a metal to a transparent substrate includes providing a substrate; placing a metal foil directly on a face of the substrate; irradiating a portion of the metal foil with a laser beam so that metal corresponding to the portion melts and bonds directly to the substrate and forms a metal pad; and pumping a gas above the portion to prevent oxidation of the melted metal.
METHOD OF MANUFACTURING A HEAT DISSIPATION DEVICE
A method of manufacturing a heat dissipation device is disclosed. The heat dissipation device manufactured with the method includes two titanium metal sheets and a metal mesh. According to the method, the two titanium metal sheets and the metal mesh are subjected to a surface treatment, so that surface of any one of the titanium metal sheets and the metal mesh is modified to form a hydrophilic layer. With these arrangements, the titanium metal material can be freely plastically deformed and possess a capillary force, and the titanium metal sheet can therefore be used in place of the conventional copper sheet to serve as a material for making heat dissipation devices. The heat dissipation devices so produced can have largely reduced weight and largely improved heat dissipation performance.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR COLD SPRAY ADDITIVE MANUFACTURE WITH SUPERPLASTIC FORMATION DIFFUSION BONDING
Implementations are provided for fabricating a finished workpiece having a shaped portion. One implementation includes: a superplastic formation diffusion bonding (SPFDB) component; a cold spray additive manufacturing (CSAM) component; and a mold having a concavity. Various configurations can operate on a workpiece with the SPFDB and CSAM components in different orders. An implementation is configured to cold spray (with the CSAM component) an additive material onto the workpiece; and perform superplastic forming (with the SPFDB component) on the workpiece with the mold, thereby rendering the workpiece into the finished workpiece having the shaped portion. The shaped portion conforms to a shape defined by the concavity. Cold spraying results in an increased thickness of the finished workpiece in a target region, which can provide structural reinforcement, and which can have a tapered edge. The workpiece can be a metal substrate made of titanium, aluminum, stainless steel, or another material.
LASER ABLATION PROCESS AND CORRESPONDING GOLF CLUB HEAD MADE BY THE SAME
Disclosed here is a method of making a golf club head. The method comprises steps of laser ablating a second-part surface of a second part of the golf club head such that a second-part ablated surface is formed in the second part, and bonding together a first-part surface, of a first part of the golf club head, and the second-part ablated surface of the second part of the golf club head.
Secured strand end devices
Methods for securing strand ends of devices configured for insertion into an anatomical structure, and the resulting devices.
A METHOD FOR SURFACE MODIFICATION OF TITANIUM AND TITANIUM ALLOY SUBSTRATES
A method for surface modification of a titanium substrate or a titanium alloy substrate comprising: a) applying at least one beta phase stabiliser to a surface of the titanium substrate or titanium alloy substrate; and b) heating the surface so as to alloy titanium with the at least one beta phase stabiliser.
METHOD AND ARRANGEMENT FOR BUILDING METALLIC OBJECTS BY SOLID FREEFORM FABRICATION
Provided are a systems and methods for manufacturing objects by solid freeform fabrication, especially titanium and titanium alloy objects, wherein the deposition rate is increased by using two separate heat sources, one heat source for heating the deposition area on the base material and one heat source for heating and melting a metallic material, such as a metal wire or a powdered metallic material.
Anti-microbial treatment for hardened metallic surfaces
A simple and practical antibacterial treatment with nisin in cracked or uncracked metal tools is provided and easily monitored for its bacteriocin effect.
Electron beam layer manufacturing
A process for layer manufacturing comprising: (a) feeding raw material in a solid state to a first predetermined location; (b) depositing the raw material onto a substrate as a molten pool deposit under a first processing condition; (c) monitoring the molten pool deposit for a preselected condition using a detector substantially contemporaneously with the depositing step; (d) comparing information about the preselected condition of the monitored molten pool deposit with a predetermined desired value for the preselected condition of the monitored molten pool deposit; (e) solidifying the molten pool deposit; (f) automatically altering the first processing condition to a different processing condition based upon information obtained from the comparing step (d); (g) protecting the detector with a vapor protection device; and (h) repeating steps (a) through (g) at one or more second locations.
