Method for repairing an upstream rail of a turbine engine turbine casing

An upstream rail of a turbine engine turbine casing, which includes a casing body extending along a longitudinal axis, includes a base including a radial face, extending substantially radially from the casing body, a plate including an upper face, extending substantially along the longitudinal axis, a connection portion between the base and the plate, including a concave face connecting the radial and upper faces, the concave and radial faces extending on either side of an edge. The upstream rail is repaired through a method including covering a surface with a solder, the surface including the upper and concave faces such that the solder extends until the edge, and machining the covered surface, in a single action, in a direction toward the radial face, so as to reshape the surface, wherein the machining of the covered surface is performed on a portion of the radial face.

Repair method for self-detecting and self-healing of corrosion defects in metals

A repair method for self-detecting and self-healing of corrosion defects in metals can achieve self-detecting and self-healing repair of an initial corrosion defect and be used to repair a micron-level corrosion defect. Furthermore, the self-detecting and self-healing repair method can be used to effectively repair an initial corrosion defect in a large-sized high-precision structural component, thus effectively improving the service safety of the high-precision metal structural component and prolonging the service life of the same.

MATERIAL DEPOSITION METHOD FOR REPAIRING AERONAUTICAL COMPONENTS

A method is disclosed for repairing an aeronautical component comprising a nickel-based alloy. An aeronautical component is disclosed comprising a nickel-based alloy and one or more of the following elements: tungsten, cobalt, chromium, aluminum, molybdenum, tantalum, titanium, hafnium, carbon, boron, and zirconium.

Mobile pressure tool for rotor blade processes

A pressure tool for rotor blade repair including a mobile support system including a support surface, a first bladder support assembly including a first inflatable bladder fixedly mounted to the support surface, a second bladder support assembly including a second inflatable bladder pivotally mounted relative to the support surface, and an activation mechanism operatively coupled to the second bladder support assembly. The activation mechanism is operable to selectively shift the second bladder support assembly relative to the first bladder support assembly. A fluid delivery system is operable to direct a fluid into each of the first inflatable bladder and the second inflatable bladder.

System and method for additively printing extension segments on workpieces

A method for additively printing extension segments on workpieces using an additive manufacturing machine includes controlling, with a computing system, an operation of a print head of the machine such that a region of interest of a build plate of the machine is scanned with an electromagnetic radiation beam. Additionally, the method includes receiving, with the computing system, data associated with reflections of the beam off of the build plate as the region interest is scanned. Furthermore, the method includes receiving, with the computing system, data associated with a location of the beam relative to the build plate. Moreover, the method includes determining, with the computing system, a location of a workpiece interface based on the received data. In addition, the method includes controlling, with the computing system, the operation of the print head such that an extension segment is additively printed on the determined workpiece interface.

REPAIR OF COATED COMPONENTS USING DESIGN ADAPTATION

A method for repairing an at least externally coated hollow component. The direct mechanical machining of a coated component after use removes the need for a coating-removal and selective hollowing step and a selective repair of cracks, since a design adaptation leads to a component being engineered or used such that it can be used again as a result of external dimensional stipulations.

TURBOMACHINE MANUFACTURE AND REPAIR METHOD USING ADDITIVE MANUFACTURED BRAZE PREFORMS

Additive manufacturing techniques are used to achieve customized preforms for repair or manufacture of turbomachinery. A method of modifying a section of a product includes forming, a preform set to fit the section. A base material is selected with properties desired for the modification of the section. A binder is selected that vaporizes at a temperature below a melting point of the base material. The preform set is built by the selective application of the binder to the base material to achieve design dimensions of the section when the preform is joined to the section. The section is prepared for effecting the extent of modification and the preform is positioned on the section. The section and the preform are heated to substantially eliminate the binder from the preform and then thermally processed to harden the preform and to bond the preform to the section.

METHOD FOR HOLDING A PART BLANK BY FLUID EXPANSION IN AN ADDITIVELY MANUFACTURED HOLDING PORTION

A method for holding a part blank inside a holding assembly. The holding assembly includes a first holding portion. The first holding portion includes an inner cavity containing a fluid. The part blank and the first holding portion are at least partially manufactured by additive manufacturing. The holding method includes a heating of the holding assembly and the part blank to deform the first holding portion by fluid expansion in the inner cavity and to reduce a gap between the part blank and the holding assembly by expansion of the first holding portion in relation to the part blank.

Weld-brazing techniques

A system includes a gas turbine component having a recessed portion with a recessed surface in a hard-to-weld (HTW) material. The system includes a plate disposed over the recessed portion. The plate has an easy-to-weld (ETW) material. The plate has an outer surface and an inner surface, and the inner surface faces the recessed portion. The system includes a braze material disposed within the recessed portion between the recessed surface and the inner surface of the plate. The braze material is configured to bond the recessed surface of the recessed portion with the inner surface of the plate when the braze material is heated to a brazing temperature. The system includes a filler material disposed on the outer surface of the plate disposed over the recessed portion. Application of the filler material to the outer surface of the plate is configured to heat the braze material to the brazing temperature.
