Fixture for holding a rod guide assembly of a fuel control unit of an aircraft engine during welding
A method of repairing a rod guide assembly of a fuel control unit of an aircraft engine is provided. The method comprises disconnecting a used spring seat from the rod of the rod guide assembly and welding a replacement spring seat to the rod using an electron beam controlled using a circular beam deflection pattern.
METHOD FOR REPAIRING AN UPSTREAM RAIL OF A TURBINE ENGINE TURBINE CASING
A method for repairing an upstream rail of a turbine engine turbine casing, the casing including a casing body extending along a longitudinal axis, the upstream rail including: a base including a radial surface, extending substantially radially from the casing body; a plate including an upper surface, extending substantially along the longitudinal axis; and a connection portion between the base and the plate, including a concave surface connecting the radial surface and the upper surface, the concave surface and the radial surface extending on either side of an edge, the method including: covering a surface with a solder, the surface including the upper surface and the concave surface, such that the solder extends substantially until the edge; and a step of machining the covered surface, in a single action, in the direction of the radial surface, and at least until the edge, so as to reshape the surface.
Adaptive Repair Method for Aerofoil Blades
This disclosure concerns an adaptive repair method, for example for aerofoil blade components. The method generates a digitised model of a physical component and uses data from the digitised model to align a part of the physical component with a nominal CAD model of the component. A combination of the digitised data and data from the nominal CAD model are then used to create an adapted model for repair of the component.
BUILD-UP STRATEGY FOR A CROWN BASE OF A TURBINE BLADE, AND TURBINE BLADE
Applying material along parallel welding lines per welding layer, and by changing direction of extension of the welding tracks by 90° for the next welding layer, provided.
REMELTING AND SUBSEQUENT APPLICATION WELDING AND COMPONENT
After remelting in a suitable mold for reducing grain boundaries, an oxidation-resistant material is epitaxially grown so that the oxidation resistance of a repaired material or also of a new part is improved.
Turbine case retention hook with insert
A method of repairing a turbine engine case includes the steps of removing worn material from a retention hook in a casing, and inserting an insert into a recess within the hook.
System and method for repairing blades
A system and method for repairing a blade are provided. The system includes an induction heating coil configured for heating a platform and slash face of the blade. The induction heating coil extends under the platform and is adjacent to the slash face to provide substantially uniform localized heating to both the platform and slash face of the blade. The induction heating coil is configured so that the platform is visible during a repair or welding operation.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR IN SITU BALANCING OF A ROTATING COMPONENT OF A GAS TURBINE ENGINE
Methods for performing in situ balancing of an internal rotating component of a gas turbine engine are provided. The method can include inserting a repair tool through an access port of the gas turbine engine with the repair tool including a tip end positioned within the gas turbine engine and a material supply end positioned outside the gas turbine engine. The tip end of the repair tool is positioned adjacent to a surface of the internal rotating component of the gas turbine engine. A new material is supplied from the material supply end of the repair tool to the tip end of the repair tool; and is expelling from the tip end of the repair tool in a direction of the surface of the rotating component such that the new material is added onto a portion of the rotating part.
Laser additive manufacture of three-dimensional components containing multiple materials formed as integrated systems
Methods for laser additive manufacture are disclosed in which a plurality of powder layers (48, 50 and 52) are delivered onto a working surface (54A) to form a multi-powder deposit containing at least two adjacent powders layers in contact, and then applying a first laser energy (74) to a first powder layer (48) and a second laser energy (76) to a second powder layer (52) to form a section plane of a multi-material component. The multi-powder deposit may include a flux composition that provides at least one protective feature. The shapes, intensities and trajectories of the first and second laser energies may be independently controlled such that their widths are less than or equal to widths of the first and second powder layers, their intensities are tailored to the compositions of the powder layers, and their scan paths define the final shape of the multi-material component.
