Fastener Feeder Head
20250235964 · 2025-07-24 ·

A feeder device for a punch press moves nuts on the carrier strip from a supply reel into the feeder which then presents them for delivery to the workpiece insertion site. The punch of the press picks each individual fastener from the feeder and delivers it to a workpiece below where the punch presses the nut into the workpiece. The feeder only requires a press with downwardly applied force and requires no additional energy source for its operation other than that transmitted by the downward force of the press. A drive mechanism of the feeder is powered by a camming action against the press punch which rotates a fastener-engaging feed wheel to advance the carrier strip into and through the feeder. A bifurcated feed track separates fasteners from the carrier strip and delivers the loose fasteners into the feed wheel which positions them at a pickoff site.

Bolt feeder

A bolt feeder includes: a rotating plate (12) arranged adjacent to a hopper (27) storing bolts (10); one or more magnets (15) to attract the bolts (10), from a back surface of the rotating plate (12), onto a front surface of the rotating plate (12); a selection block (13) having a gap space (13a) through which one bolt in a predetermined orientation out of the bolts (10) attracted by the one or more magnets (15) is allowed to pass; a motor (26) to cause the one or more magnets (15) to rotate and move from the hopper (27) toward the selection block (13); and a guide plate (29) extending upstream in a moving direction of the one or more magnets (15) from an entrance of the gap space (13a), and guiding the bolts (10) attracted by the one or more magnets (15) to the gap space (13a).

Automated O-ring processing stations and related methods

An O-ring processing station for an automated mass production system includes: (a) at least one feed device operable to control discharge of O-rings from an output end of the feed device; (b) an indexing device having a plurality of O-ring retainers, the indexing device operable to advance each retainer to a loading position in alignment with the output end for receiving an O-ring from the feed device, and an unloading position spaced apart from the loading position for unloading the O-ring from the retainer; and (c) a pick-and-place robot including at least one end effector movable between a pick-up position in alignment with a retainer at the unloading position for removing the O-ring from the retainer, and a drop-off position spaced apart from the pick-up position for installation of the O-ring onto a workpiece.

Robotic end effectors for templating fasteners and related systems and methods

End effectors comprise a housing, a positioner, and a translator. The positioner is supported by the housing and is configured to sequentially receive fasteners from a source of fasteners into a receiving position and sequentially move fasteners from the receiving position to a deploying position. The translator is supported by the housing relative to the positioner and is configured to sequentially translate fasteners from the deploying position to ports of a fastener holder. Robotic methods comprise sequentially receiving fasteners from a source of fasteners into a receiving position, sequentially moving fasteners from the receiving position to a deploying position, and sequentially translating fasteners from the deploying position to ports of a fastener holder.
