Spinner wrench for a drilling rig

A spinner wrench for use on a drilling rig is provided. In some embodiments, the wrench can comprise three or more spinning rollers that can be disposed around a tubular. The three or more rollers can be connected to three or more hydraulic rams. In some embodiments, each ram can be connected to a single roller and the axis of the ram can be in a plane perpendicular to the pipe axis but not intersecting the pipe axis. For improved performance during make-up, in planar view, each ram axis can be offset to a counterclockwise direction around the drill pipe axis. For improved performance during break-out, in planar view, each ram axis can be offset to the clockwise direction. In some embodiments, the three or more rollers can be disposed around the drilling pipe or other tubular by a main body and one or more latching bodies.

An apparatus for threading a tool unit onto an elongate structural element. The apparatus has a holding arrangement for holding it on a feed device, a tool unit to be threaded onto the elongate structural element. The tool unit has a tool axis and a vibration unit connected to the tool unit and configured to generate a periodic force in at least one first spatial direction that runs transversely with respect to the tool axis. First and second coupling components, held elastically on one another, are provided. The first coupling component is connected to the holding arrangement, the second coupling component is connected to the tool unit. The vibration unit is operated, during a feed movement of the holding arrangement for threading the tool unit onto the elongate structural element, to add an additional, periodically varying transverse component to a feed force acting on the tool unit.

Electric apparatus mounting device and method

This electric apparatus mounting device includes: a robot side contact jig which is provided to an end effector mounted to an arm of a robot and which has a robot side contact; and an electric apparatus side contact jig which is detachably provided to an electric apparatus and which has an electric apparatus side contact electrically connected with the electric apparatus. The robot side contact jig and the electric apparatus side contact jig are configured such that the robot side contact and the electric apparatus side contact are in a connection state in a state that the electric apparatus is held by the end effector. Thus, a work for conveying and mounting an electric apparatus such as a motor to a given position using a robot can be performed without hindrance.

Directed self-assembly of electronic components using diamagnetic levitation

Embodiments of the invention relate generally to directed self-assembly (DSA) and, more particularly, to the DSA of electronic components using diamagnetic levitation.

Screw fastening method and screw fastening device

A screw fastening method includes reversely rotating a shaft part of a fastening tool in a direction of loosening one of an external thread and an internal thread, which is engaged with the shaft part, while one of the external thread in a non-screwed state and the internal thread in a non-screwed state, which is engaged with the shaft part, is pressed against the other thread, detecting collisions between thread ridges of the external thread and the internal thread using a sensor while the shaft part remains rotated reversely, determining whether or not a time interval between collisions detected by the sensor matches a theoretical cycle of collisions calculated from rotation speed of the shaft part, and fastening the external thread and the internal thread to each other by normally rotating the shaft part when it is determined that the time interval matches the theoretical cycle.

NUT PLATE GRIPPERS, END EFFECTORS THAT INCLUDE NUT PLATE GRIPPERS, ROBOTS THAT INCLUDE END EFFECTORS, INSTALLATION SYSTEMS THAT INCLUDE ROBOTS, AND RELATED METHODS

Nut plate grippers, end effectors that include nut plate grippers, robots that include end effectors, installation systems that include robots, and related methods are disclosed herein. The nut plate grippers are configured to grip a nut plate and include an attachment region, a first resilient projecting region, and a second resilient projecting region. The first resilient projecting region extends from the attachment region and defines a first nut plate-contacting end. The second resilient projecting region extends from the attachment region and defines a second nut plate-contacting end. The first resilient projecting region and the second resilient projecting region are configured to resiliently deflect toward one another to facilitate insertion of the first nut plate-contacting end and the second nut plate-contacting end between a pair of opposed plate flanges of a base plate of the nut plate. The methods include methods of gripping a nut plate utilizing the nut plate grippers.

BOLT INSTALLATION AND TENSIONING SYSTEM

A bolt installation and removal (BIR) system is used for assembling and disassembling a nuclear vessel. The BIR system includes a platform with a stand for supporting the nuclear vessel. A track extends around an outside perimeter of the platform and multiple tool carts include wheels that roll on the track. Tool towers are located on the carts and include tool assemblies configured to install and remove bolts on the nuclear reactor vessel. Magazine towers also extend up from the tool carts next to the tool towers and include magazines that hold bolts for exchanging with the tool assemblies. Drive mechanisms move tool heads in the tool assemblies around a first vertical axis, vertically up and down, and laterally to more simply and reliably install and remove the bolts in a radioactive underwater environment.

A stand for hosting a Multiple Stud Tensioning Machine (MSTM) for tensioning working studs, the stand comprising a first assembly designed to lie on a floor, and a second assembly designed to receive the MSTM and movable in translation with respect to the first assembly thanks to a translation system.

Clamping device

A boot band for fixing a boot that is mounted to a constant velocity universal joint is clamped. The boot band and the constant velocity universal joint are aligned in phase with each other in a circumferential direction. An axial position of a clamping portion is thereafter aligned with an axial position of the boot band. Then, the boot band is clamped by the clamping portion.
