Screw guide and related method of use

A fastener guide is provided including a base plate that engages a first board, a guide member that maintains an advancing fastener at a preselected offset angle relative to the first board, and a retainer clip that engages a second board that is transverse to the first board. The retainer clip includes first and second prongs that resiliently hold the guide in place as the fastener is advanced at the offset angle, optionally without manual input so that a user can manipulate the fastener and a driving tool instead of holding the guide to align the fastener. A related method of use is provided.

An apparatus for aligning materials in order to construct an article is provided. The apparatus may include an array of moveable pins and a solid plate having an array of holes, where the array of holes is aligned with the array of pins. Each pin may be extended and/or retracted by a programmable actuator array. When a pin is extended, at least a portion of the pin may extend through the hole with which it is aligned, such that at least a portion of the pin extends beyond the solid plate. A fraction of the total number of pins in the array of pins may be extended by the programmable actuator array. The particular pins that are to be extended may be based on a pattern for an article. A material that is to be used in constructing the article may be aligned using the extended pins.

The present disclosure is directed toward a workpiece alignment system that includes a fixture configured to receive a workpiece, and multiple sensors disposed at different locations along the fixture. Each of the sensors is configured to detect a force applied to the sensor and to output a signal indicative of the force applied. Based on the signal, the system determined whether a workpiece is aligned on the fixture.

The dummy workpiece has a circular through-hole having a diameter larger than a diameter of the circumferential surface of the central protrusion. A diameter of the check pin is smaller than a value determined by dividing a difference between the diameter of the circular through-hole and the diameter of the circumferential surface of the central protrusion by 2.

Using an additive manufacturing process, a tool housing may be manufactured in which one or more internal voids allow insertion and rotational movement along and about a longitudinal axis of the housing, respectively, of a member having a radially extending portion. A handle and a brace may be coupled to the proximal and distal ends of the member to facilitate operation of the tool and placement of the surface mounted tooling element, respectively. Such member may also be spring loaded to enable the tool to clamp itself to a workpiece during the mounting operation, with the radially extending member portion limiting rotational travel of the brace.

The fusion machine skid is coupled to the forward skid by a first coupling. The fusion machine skid is coupled to the rear skid by a second coupling. The system is configured such that when the forward skid is pulled along a length of the pipe, the forward skid pulls the fusion machine skid via the first coupling and the fusion machine skid pulls the rear skid via the second coupling.
