The invention relates to a blank holder for a dental milling machine. The blank holder has a clamping frame with a receptacle for a blank. The clamping frame includes a first frame part and a second frame part which are pivotable relative to one another to open the receptacle. A first clamping face is formed on the first frame part and a second clamping face is formed on the second frame part. The clamping faces engage an outer periphery of the blank with the clamping frame closed. To configure a blank holder so that the blank is fixed in the clamping frame in a play-free manner, provision is made to form one of the clamping faces on an annular clamping ring. The clamping ring is held on a frame part and is displaceable counter to a force in the axial direction.

A method for cutting machining of turbine blades (1) on a multi-axis machine tool, the turbine blade (1) is held by a rotatable blade-root clamping device and a rotatable blade-tip clamping device (2) and is machined by means of a tool which is chucked in a tool spindle. A first profile section (4) which is adjacent to the blade tip is first of all machined by the tool and the tool is then removed. The tool spindle then grabs an already horizontal additional clamping device (5) which has clamping jaws (6.1, 6.2) adapted to the first profile section (4). The additional clamping device (5) is positioned on the blade-tip clamping device (2) in such a way that the clamping jaws (6.1, 6.2) rest in the first profile section (4). The tool spindle then grabs a tool and machines the remaining profile section with it.

The method includes the following steps: Arranging a workpiece executed as a control cabinet component on a work surface of a machining device; clamping the workpiece on the work surface, wherein a supporting unit with at least one clamping device arranged on it, is shifted to an edge of the workpiece using an actuator-driven shifting unit and a clamping element of the at least one clamping device is shifted from a released position to a clamped position when guided towards the edge of the workpiece, meaning that the clamping element comes to rest at multiple contact points on the workpiece so that the clamping element secures the workpiece in a machining position, preventing it from shifting perpendicularly to the work surface, and machining the workpiece using a machining tool.
