A cosmetic composition in the form of an oil-in-water emulsion comprises (i) at least one solid fatty alcohol; (ii) at least one amino acid surfactant; and (iii) at least one gelling agent selected from hydrophilic acrylic homopolymers and amphiphilic acrylic polymers. A non-therapeutic method for caring for the skin comprises applying said cosmetic composition to the skin.

BIO-BASED AND BIODEGRADABLE ELASTOMER FOR COSMETIC AND PERSONAL CARE

A polyurethane elastomeric rubber composition containing a bio-based polyol cross-linked with a bio-based isocyanate using a urethanation catalyst such as a bismuth catalyst in the presence of a cosmetic emollient is disclosed. The cross-linked polyurethane elastomer rubber is in further aspect of the invention included in a gel after being milled in the presence of a bio-based emollient or mixture of bio-based emollients. The polyurethane elastomeric gel has good compatibility with cosmetic and natural oils and can be used as a gelling agent for these oils among other desirable cosmetic formulary roles.

RECOMBINANT HUMAN TYPE XVII COLLAGEN, AND PREPARATION METHOD AND USE THEREOF

A recombinant human type XVII collagen consists of an amino acid sequence shown in (A).sub.n or includes the amino acid sequence shown in (A).sub.n, where A is a sequence set forth in SEQ ID NO: 2, a sequence undergoing an amino acid modification to a predetermined extent based on SEQ ID NO: 2, or a sequence that has more than 80% homology with SEQ ID NO: 2; n is an integer greater than or equal to 1; and A represents a basic unit, and when there are two or more basic units, the two or more basic units are identical or different and are directly connected in tandem through a peptide bond. In the present disclosure, it is confirmed that the recombinant human type XVII collagen can undergo efficient secretory and soluble expression in eukaryotic host cells such as Pichia pastoris (P. pastoris).

METHODS FOR RECOVERING ORGANIC ACIDS OR SALTS OR LACTONES THEREOF FROM AQUEOUS SOLUTIONS USING WATER SOLVENT CRYSTALLIZATION AND COMPOSITIONS THEREOF

Compositions and methods are provided for producing crystalline forms of organic acids or salts or lactones thereof from an aqueous solution. More specifically, methods are provided for producing a crystalline form of a salt of mevalonic acid (also referred to as X-MVA) from an aqueous solution, comprising subjecting the aqueous solution comprising said X-MVA to a purification step to produce a purified solution and crystallizing said X-MVA from said purified solution by water solvent crystallization. Methods are also provided for producing mevalonolactone from an aqueous solution comprising X-MVA, comprising subjecting the aqueous solution comprising said X-MVA to cation exchange thereby converting said aqueous solution comprising X-MVA to an aqueous solution comprising mevalonolactone (MVL). Methods are also provided for producing mevalonolactone monohydrate crystals.

THICKENER

The objective of the present invention is to provide a thickener that can increase the viscosity of a composition while suppressing stickiness and maintaining a good feeling when the composition is applied on the skin or the like, since the thickener does not contain a polymer thickener or the amount of the polymer thickener is small. The thickener of the present invention is characterized by comprising a phospholipid and a biosurfactant, wherein a ratio of the phospholipid to 1 part by mass of the biosurfactant is greater than 4:1 and less than or equal to 10:1.
