The invention relates to a blank for an endodontic instrument, obtainable by machining at least one rod by means of wire erosion, preferably selected from the group consisting of electrical discharge machining, wire electrical discharge machining, electrical discharge grinding and electro-chemical machining, wherein an erosion pattern is applied to the at least one rod, wherein the blank has a homogenous hardness.

Constant rake fluted drill bit and method of manufacture

A constant rake planar cutting edge fluted drill bit and a method of manufacturing the same. The drill bit includes a planar cutting face formed at the tip end of the bit by a motion of a rotating machining wheel respective to a stationary blank in a first step. Once the cutting face is formed, the blank is rotated and translated in a direction parallel to an elongated axis, during which the rotating machining wheel creates a flute. Upon completion of the first flute, the bit is rotated accordingly and the processes are repeated to create each subsequent planar cutting face and respective flute. The process can also be completed in a slightly modified version of a reverse process, fabricating a flute prior to formation of the planar cutting face of the bit.

The invention relates to a rock drill comprising an insertion portion, a flute adjoined to the insertion portion, and a head portion adjoined to the flute, wherein the flute is of at least double-spiral configuration and correspondingly has at least two substantially spiral discharge grooves, to which respectively two substantially spiral flute webs forming the lateral groove walls are assigned. It is proposed that a constant spiral pitch is assigned to the first discharge groove, inclusive of the lateral groove walls thereof, along the drill longitudinal axis, and that at least one of the two flute webs assigned to the first discharge groove has or have along the drill longitudinal axis, at least in sections, a web spine width which changes, in particular, alternately.
