AXE JIG
An axe jig for use when grinding an axe, the axe jig comprising a first and a second clamp portion to be arranged on opposite sides of an axe head of the axe and configured such that the axe jig is attachable to the axe head. The first clamp portion comprises a first support surface for positioning the axe head during grinding and the second clamp portion comprises a second support surface for positioning the axe head during grinding. A grinding system comprises the axe jig and a grinding machine.
POWERED TOOL SHARPENER WITH VARIABLE MATERIAL TAKE OFF (MTO) RATE
A tool sharpener has a guide assembly to support a cutting tool adjacent an abrasive medium. A drive assembly advances the abrasive medium with respect to the guide assembly. A control mechanism provides a first control input value to move the medium and achieve a first material take off (MTO) rate during a coarse sharpening operation upon the tool. A second control input value from the control circuit moves the medium to achieve a lower, second MTO rate during a fine sharpening operation. The control mechanism transitions the medium from the first MTO rate to the second MTO rate responsive to a timer mechanism indicating a conclusion of a predetermined elapsed time interval.
Rotatable Edge Guide to Support a Cutting Tool During a Sharpening Operation
Apparatus for sharpening a cutting tool. In some embodiments, a tool sharpener includes an abrasive medium having an abrasive surface. A stationary tool support guide provides a guide surface that supports a side of the tool during presentation of a cutting edge of the tool against the abrasive surface. A rotatable edge guide has a roller member with a curvilinearly extending outer surface. The roller member is rotatable about an edge guide roller axis to engage, via rolling contact, the cutting edge during the presentation of the cutting edge against the abrasive surface.
Modular clamping device
A clamping device for holding a workpiece, in particular a cutting tool, during machining in a grinding machine, wherein peripheral grinding of the workpiece is performed by means of a particularly approximately cup-shaped grinding wheel, wherein the clamping device comprises a support unit provided to be mounted on the grinding machine, a clamping unit comprising a clamping anvil supported in a clamping anvil holding element and translationally drivable to apply a clamping force parallel to a clamping axis, and a drive unit comprising a drive anvil supported in a drive axis and rotationally drivable for rotary orientating the workpiece by means of the drive axis. The clamping unit and the drive unit are provided as individual components, which are releasably or slidably attached to the support unit to form a workpiece spindle headstock of the grinding machine.
Powered tool sharpener with multi-speed abrasive
Method and apparatus for sharpening a cutting tool. In some embodiments, a sharpener has a guide assembly adjacent a moveable abrasive medium. The medium is advanced at a first speed relative to the guide assembly during a coarse sharpening operation in which a user presents the cutting tool against the medium to shape a side of the cutting tool and generate distended material from the cutting edge (e.g., burrs). The medium is subsequently slowed to a lower, second speed for a fine sharpening operation in which the user presents the cutting tool against the medium to remove the distended material and provide a sharpened cutting edge.
Electrode Grinding System
An electrode grinding system includes a vise that may be mounted to a support surface. A grinder is provided and a grinding wheel is rotatably coupled to the grinder. A guide is coupled to the grinder and the grinding wheel is positioned within the guide. The guide is positionable in the vise such that the grinding wheel is retained in a selected orientation. An electrode is provided and the electrode is positioned in a drill. The drill is positioned such that the electrode frictionally engages the grinding wheel. Thus, the grinding wheel shapes the electrode.
A PRECISION GRINDING JIG AND A GRINDING SYSTEM
This disclosure generally relates to a grinding jig (1) for holding a blade (100) of a tool in a grinding machine (200), the grinding machine (200) comprising a grinding means (210) and a support means (220). The grinding jig (1) comprises a first and a second clamp portion (10, 20) that are movable with respect to one another to clamp the blade (100), and an elongate support portion (2) for supporting the grinding jig (1) onto the support means (220). The elongate support portion (2) comprises a first support leg (2a) carrying the first clamp portion (10) and a second support leg (2b) carrying the second clamp portion (20). The elongate support portion (2) extends along a longitudinal center axis Y of the grinding jig (1) and comprises a radial abutment surface (3) for abutment against the support means (220). The first and second support legs (2a, 2b) of the support portion (2) are fixed to one another at the radial abutment surface (3).
Tool grinder
The end mill grinding device of the present invention includes a tool spindle assembly and a motor tower which enables multi-axis positioning of a sharpening wheel in relation to an end mill cutting tool being sharpened, for sharpening the end mill tool. The present invention combines linear sharpening and radial tool end grinding capability in the same device.
Honing Apparatus for Sharpening Cutting Tools
A honing apparatus has a top section which is disposed in a horizontal, transverse plane. First and second guide rails extend along the sides of the top section. A sharpening stone tray is located within the top section between the guard rails and a sharpening stone is positioned within the tray. An electric motor drives the sharpening stone tray in reciprocating motion within a path parallel to the horizontal plane of the top section. A clamp unit is located over the sharpening stone and secures a cutting tool at a given angle on and in relation to the sharpening stone. The reciprocating movement of the sharpening stone allows for precise sharpening of the cutting tool secured in the clamp unit.
