Surgical adhesives

A composition for the adhesion of biological tissues to one another, for the adhesion of a material to a biological tissue, for the adhesion of an adhesive or of a substance to the surface of a biological tissue, for blocking an orifice in a biological tissue, for reinforcing a biological tissue and/or for fixing and stabilising a biological tissue. A monomer that is polymerisable under the effect of ultraviolet (UV) radiation and in that the viscosity of said composition is less than 10 mPa.Math.s at 20° C.

Surgical adhesive able to glue in wet conditions

Compositions and methods for sealing tissue of a patient in a wet environment are disclosed.

Porogen compositions, methods of making and uses

The present specification discloses porogen compositions comprising a core material and shell material, methods of making such porogen compositions, methods of forming such porous materials using such porogen compositions, biocompatible implantable devices comprising such porous materials, and methods of making such biocompatible implantable devices.

Method for processing a biomedical material by a supercritical fluid

A method for processing a biomedical material using a supercritical fluid includes introducing the supercritical fluid into a cavity. The supercritical fluid is doped with a hydrogen isotope-labeled compound, an organic metal compound, an element selecting from a halogen element, oxygen, sulfur, selenium, phosphorus or arsenic, or a compound containing the element. The biomedical material in the cavity is modified by the supercritical fluid at a temperature above a critical temperature of the supercritical fluid and a pressure above a critical pressure of the supercritical fluid.

Anisotropic Wound Closure Systems

Novel compositions and systems for closure of wounds are disclosed. The compositions provide devices of improved flexibility and elasticity and are readily applied to wound sites or over wound closure devices. The present invention is also directed to a novel platinum catalyst for use in such compositions. The catalyst provides for rapid curing on topical surfaces such as skin and bonds to such surfaces in about 2-5 minutes.

The present invention provides a method for removing an organic solvent from starch hemostatic microspheres, comprising the following steps: 1. taking to-be-dried starch hemostatic microspheres and laying them flatly on drying trays with attention to laying them as uniformly and thinly as possible; 2. taking an adsorbent and subpackaging it into dialyzing paper bags for sealing; and 3. placing the trays and the dialyzing paper bags completed in the previous two steps on separators of a low-temperature vacuum oven in layers, setting the oven temperature at 0-20° C., then vacuumizing and keeping pressure for 15-48 hours. The method provided by the present invention can reduce organic solvent residue in the starch hemostatic microspheres to less than 0.05%, which meets the requirements of relevant standards for medical devices, thereby improving safety of products.

Hardenable multi-part acrylic composition

A hardenable multi-part acrylic composition having at least two parts that react upon mixing to form a cement, such as bone cement, which hardens to a solid is described that includes storage stable liquid first and second parts, and optionally, further liquid parts. The parts react upon mixing to form a cement that hardens to a solid. The composition includes an acrylic monomer component and an initiator component in an amount effective to polymerize the acrylic monomer component when mixed and/or activated with it. The liquid first part comprises an aqueous dispersion of acrylic polymer particles and acrylic polymer beads. The polymer beads are at an equilibrium water content with the aqueous phase of the dispersion that generally has a viscosity between 10 and 10,000 centipoise. A twin barreled syringe, caulking gun or other cement mixing and delivery device and a method of producing the composition are also described.
