Abrasive slurry delivery systems and methods

An abrasive slurry delivery system configured to discharge a high pressure mixture of water (30) and abrasives (54, 54′) for further admixture with a flow of high pressure water (30) to generate an abrasive slurry and ultimately an abrasive slurry jet is provided. The delivery system includes a storage chamber (56), a discharge chamber (58) and a shuttle chamber (60) positioned therebetween. The shuttle chamber (60) is configured to intermittently receive abrasives (54) from the storage chamber (56) and intermittently supply the abrasives (54, 54′) mixed with high pressure water (30) to the discharge chamber (58) to be selectively discharged therefrom. High pressure abrasive slurry cutting systems and related methods are also provided.

AUTOMATED VEHICLE COMPONENT CLEANING SYSTEM

A system is provided for performing a cleaning process of a component of a vehicle. The system includes a first cleaning applicator configured to deliver a cleaning agent to a first surface of the component of the vehicle, a second cleaning applicator configured to deliver the cleaning agent to a second surface of the component of the vehicle, a third cleaning applicator configured to deliver the cleaning agent to a third surface of the component of the vehicle, and a control unit configured to instruct each of the first, second, and third cleaning applicators to project the cleaning agent onto the respective surface of the component for a corresponding predetermined period. The first, second, and third applicators are instructed to project the cleaning agent in a predetermined sequence.

A blasting or stripping booth is provided creating a generally downward flow for treatment of fluid and particle flow, which reduces operator exposure to potentially hazardous debris. The booth comprises an enclosure defining an upper region for a workpiece, a lower region, and a separator assembly. In some instances the separator assembly includes individual separator units which are discrete units, each having a generally square or rectangular plan view configuration which are arranged in an array for providing the required process flow capabilities. Further embodiments utilize structures forming the separator which have an elongated trough-like configuration. These embodiments find a particular application in large-scale stripping or blasting booth used in production environments where workpieces may flow through a treatment system in a serial manner. Other suitable applications include batch type processing of parts.
