APPARATUS FOR ABRASIVE CLEANING
20220297264 · 2022-09-22 ·

An apparatus for abrasive cleaning includes an abrasive media storage vessel for storing a supply of abrasive media at ambient pressure. The storage vessel has an outlet for supplying abrasive media into a first gas stream at a first gas pressure in a first flow passage, the first flow passage supplying a mixture of gas and abrasive media to an outlet nozzle. A main gas stream communicates with the outlet nozzle via a second flow passage at a second gas pressure, the second gas pressure being higher than the first gas pressure. The mixture of gas and abrasive media from the first flow passage is entrained into the main gas stream from the second flow passage in or downstream of the outlet nozzle.

DRY WET BLAST MEDIA BLASTING SYSTEM
20220241930 · 2022-08-04 ·

A wet media blasting system with a water injection system that provides more uniform distribution of the water, air and media components for achieving better application of the mixture while minimizing the amount of water required to contain and minimize or eliminate airborne particulate matter such as dust produced during the blasting operation. By more thoroughly mixing the water into the abrasive/water mix, the amount of water required is reduced. The abrasive feed is placed and shaped to optimize spray coverage and minimize abrasive flow into injection space thus mitigating water nozzle clogs. The abrasive flow is shaped as it is released from the metering valve in order to tighten the abrasive flow before it enters into the blast air stream. The shaped and tightened abrasive flow is maintained at the lower portion of the blast air stream. This positions the abrasive flow in optimum placement for spray wetting the abrasive as it flows into and through the nozzle. This also mitigates nozzle clogging by directing most of the abrasive flow away from the water spray nozzle port.

Reduced noise abrasive blasting systems
11383349 · 2022-07-12 · ·

Reduced noise abrasive blasting assemblies and systems are described. The new assemblies and systems are comprised of standard blast hose, accelerator hose, couplings and nozzle. The improved abrasive blasting system maintains abrasive particle velocity while decreasing the exit gas velocity and consequently decreasing sound production. This is accomplished through an acceleration section with reduced inner diameter and sufficient length to provide the necessary abrasive particle velocity. The new system maintains the productivity and efficiency of conventional abrasive blasting systems but with greatly reduced acoustic noise production and reduces operator fatigue due to the lower weight of the carried portion of the system.

Dual sided shot peening system includes pressurized air supply in communication with independently controllable first and second air pressure regulators in communication with first and second shot supplies and independently controlled first and second shot flow control valves disposed between first and second nozzles and the shot supplies. Computer may be in control of regulators and valves. Nozzle supports may fixedly or movably support nozzles during shot peening. The system may be used for simultaneously shot peening first and second sides of a portion of a workpiece such as airfoils of a BLISK. First and second streams from first and second nozzles may have different properties and may be varied during shot peening.

ABRASIVE FLOW MACHINING PROCESS FOR A MERIDIONALLY DIVIDED TURBINE HOUSING, AND A MASKING FIXTURE USED IN SAID PROCESS

An abrasive flow machining process for a meridionally divided turbine housing for a turbocharger employs a fixture installed in the axial bore of the housing to force the abrasive medium to flow substantially 360° about the circumference of the volute, and to shield the portion of the divider of the turbine housing volute located proximate the turbine housing inlet.

CONTROL SYSTEM FOR ABRASIVE BLASTING APPARATUS AND ABRASIVE BLASTING APPARATUS
20210331290 · 2021-10-28 ·

A control system for controlling abrasive blasting apparatus and an abrasive blasting apparatus including such a control system. The control system controls delivery of air and blast media to a blast nozzle of the abrasive blasting apparatus. The control system includes a deadman's switch, the deadman's switch features a user operable control. The user operable control is moveable from a first position, where the control system causes the abrasive blasting apparatus to not deliver air or blast media, to a second position where the control system causes the abrasive blasting apparatus to deliver both air and blast media. When the user operable control is in an intermediate position between the first and second positions, the control system causes the abrasive blasting apparatus to deliver air but not blast media. The control system may have control elements whose state may be sequentially changed by the user operable control as it moves.
