ABRASIVE ARTICLE, ABRASIVE SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR USING AND FORMING SAME
An abrasive article includes a body and an electronic assembly coupled to the body, the electronic assembly including an electronic device, and a first portion between the body and the communication device, the first portion having a material of an average relative magnetic permeability of not greater than 15.
Systems and methods for making abrasive articles
Methods of making an abrasive article. Abrasive particles are loaded to a distribution tool including a plurality of walls defining a plurality of slots. Each slot is open to a lower side of the tool. The loaded particles are distributed from the distribution tool to a major face of a backing web below the lower side and moving relative to the tool. At least a majority of the particles distributed from the tool undergo an orientation sequence in which each particle first enters one of the slots. The particle then passes partially through the slot such that a first portion is beyond the lower side and in contact with the major face, and a second portion within the slot. The sequence then includes the particle remaining in simultaneous contact with one of the walls and the major face for a dwell period while the web moves relative to the tool.
Abrasive articles and related methods
Provided are abrasive articles that include a plurality of layers, in the following order: a backing; an abrasive layer; and a supersize coat. The supersize coat contains a metal salt of a long-chain fatty acid and clay particles dispersed therein. Advantageously, the clay particles enhance the optical clarity of the supersize coat, allowing printed abrasive articles to be made with thicker supersize coatings. The addition of clay was also found to improve cut performance of the abrasive article relative to articles in which the clay particles are absent.
ABRASIVE TOOL AND USE OF SUCH AN ABRASIVE TOOL
An abrasive tool, including an abrasive carrier (1) having a shaft (2) for connecting the abrasive carrier (1) to a driving device for rotatably driving the abrasive carrier (1) about a longitudinal axis (X) and having a core (3) connected to an axial end (4) of the shaft (2), and an abrasive article (15) having a surface (16) being circumferentially closed about the longitudinal axis (X) and enclosing a cavity (17) extending along the longitudinal axis (X), wherein the core (3) is accommodated at least partially in the cavity (17), and wherein the core (3) includes a material mixture which includes a plastic with a heat-conductive filler, wherein the plastic is foamed, and wherein the filler has a thermal conductivity greater than 35 watts per meter and per Kelvin.
Mirror finishing method and production method of mirror finishing tool
A mirror finishing method for forming a mirror surface on a workpiece with a mirror finishing tool including a conically shaped cutting tool made of polycrystalline diamond or cubic boron nitride that is attached to a distal end of a shank, performs mirror polishing by abutting a conical surface of the cutting tool against a machined surface of the workpiece with the shank tilted with respect to the machined surface of the workpiece.
Compoundless Abrasive Polishing or Buffing Article
A compoundless buff and method of making a compoundless buff using a coating solution formulated with abrasive particles dispersed or suspended using a surfactant or suspension agent and which also contains a self-crosslinking acrylic binder emulsion that binds abrasive particles to nonwoven cloth of a buffing article when the coating solution is applied thereto forming a relatively hard abrasive-containing coating that enables the buffing article to abrasively treat a surface without having to separately apply any buffing or polishing compound. A preferred coating solution formulation further contains a lubricant emulsion that produces a lubricant and abrasive-containing coating of the buff having lubricant interspersed with binder and abrasive particles thereby reducing friction during buffing or polishing. A preferred coating solution also contains at least one surfactant to disperse the abrasive, suspension agent to keep the abrasive suspended, and buffering agent to keep the pH of the solution so it remains flowable.
Abrasive article
An abrasive article is provided which comprises a plurality of layers in the following order: a backing; an abrasive layer; a primer layer comprising clay particles, wherein the clay particles are agglomerated and form a layer; and a supersize coat comprising a metal salt of a long-chain fatty acid. The addition of the aforementioned primer layer can significantly reduce loading of swarf and improve both the cut and expected lifetime of the abrasive article.
POLYURETHANE FOR POLISHING LAYER, POLISHING LAYER INCLUDING POLYURETHANE AND MODIFICATION METHOD OF THE POLISHING LAYER, POLISHING PAD, AND POLISHING METHOD
Disclosed herein are polyurethanes useful for polishing layers, where the polyurethane is a polyurethane having a Schiff base. Also disclosed herein are polishing layers containing the polyurethanes, polishing methods that use the polishing layers, and a modification method including a step of converting the Schiff base into at least one functional group selected from an aldehyde group, a carboxylic acid group, a hydroxyl group, and an amino group.
Abrasive body
The invention relates to an abrasive body (6) for a grinding tool with an abrasive layer (8), which has at least one binding agent (12) and abrasive grains (13), characterised in that thermochromic colouring agents are provided in the abrasive layer (8). The invention relates further to a grinding tool (1) with an abrasive body (6) according to the invention and elements (5) for connecting the grinding tool (1) to a driving device for rotatingly driving the abrasive body (6). The invention relates further to a use of the abrasive body (6) according to the invention or of the grinding tool (1) according to the invention for treating human body parts.
SUPER-ABRASIVE GRAIN AND SUPER-ABRASIVE GRINDING WHEEL
There is provided a super-abrasive grain including: a body composed of cubic boron nitride or diamond; and a ceramic coating film coating at least a portion of a surface of the body.
