Method for producing a machining segment
A method for producing a machining segment from a first powdered matrix material and first hard material particles arranged according to a defined first particle pattern, includes: applying a powdered supporting material as a supporting layer with a melting temperature higher than the first matrix material, arranging the first hard material particles according to the defined first particle pattern in the supporting material with a depth of penetration, applying a first layer of the first matrix material to the first hard material particles and the supporting material and fusing the first layer by a powder bed fusion method, and performing a sequence of a plurality of steps N times, N1, wherein, in a first step of the sequence, a layer of the first matrix material is applied to the layer structure, and in a second step of the sequence, the layer of the first matrix material is fused by the powder bed fusion method and connected to the layer structure.
STRUCTURED ABRASIVE ARTICLE INCLUDING FEATURES WITH IMPROVED STRUCTURAL INTEGRITY
In various embodiments, the present invention provides a structured abrasive article. The structured abrasive article includes an abrasive layer disposed on a backing. The abrasive layer includes shaped abrasive composites, which include abrasive particles dispersed in a polymeric binder. Each of the shaped abrasive composites independently includes a contoured base, which includes a first end disposed on the backing, a second end, and a plurality of sidewalls connecting the first end and the second end. A plurality of walls extends away from the contoured base. The abrasive article additionally includes a grinding surface, which includes a plurality of cusps and a plurality of facets that contact a recessed feature capable of being contained within a geometric plane. A portion of the recessed feature is disposed closer to the contoured base than is each of the cusps, and each cusp is formed by an intersection of two of the walls and a facet.
Reciprocal segment abrasive cutting tool
The disclosed technology includes a cutting tool comprising segments arranged around a periphery of a cutting tool. Each segment, of the plurality of segments comprising a first portion comprising a first material having a first hardness, a second portion comprising a second material having a second hardness, the second hardness being less than the first hardness, and a transition region. The transition region can include at least part of the first material and at least part of the second material. The transition region can have an overall third hardness that is less than the first hardness and greater than the second hardness. A first segment and a second segment of the plurality of segments can be attached to the periphery of the cutting tool such that at least the first portion of the first segment is aligned in a cutting direction with the second portion of the second segment.
Abrasive article
The invention relates to an abrasive article 1 for abrading at least one workpiece, the abrasive article with: a carrier body 2, at least one abrasive layer 3 with a main surface and a predefined thickness, the at least one abrasive layer being arranged on the carrier body, at least two visual indicators 6 with a cross-section in the main surface of the abrasive layer, wherein the size, shape and/or location of the cross-section of the visual indicators in the main surface of the abrasive layer depends on the thickness of the abrasive layer at more than one location of the visual indicators.
