Porous polymeric polishing bristles and methods for their manufacture
Polishing media in the form of bristles made from a porous polymer-based material, apparatus and systems including the media, and methods of forming and using the media, apparatus, and systems are disclosed. A method of manufacturing bristles for use in polishing a workpiece which includes a non-planar surface includes the steps of combining a liquid polymer material and a foaming agent to form a foamed polymeric material, and separating the foamed polymeric material into a plurality of bristles. The foaming agent is configured to impart a porosity to the polymeric material, where the porosity is characterized by a density in the range of 0.3 to 1.2 g/cm.sup.3.
Roll shaft for brush roll and brush roll
The present invention provides a roll shaft having high corrosion resistance and rigidity against bending, and a brush roll comprising the roll shaft. The roll shaft 2 is for use in a brush roll 1 for brushing a strip of metal sheet. The roll shaft includes: a shaft body 7 to which multiple annular discs 4 having multiple brush bristles 5 implanted around the outer peripheral edge of the discs 4 are attached; key bases 8 attached to recessed grooves 72 provided on the outer peripheral edge of the shaft body 7, the key bases comprising keyways 80 into which insertion members 6 projecting from the inner peripheral edge of the annular discs 4 are fitted, and the key bases 8 comprising a corrosion-resistant metallic material, a corrosion-resistant alloy, or a corrosion-resistant resin material.
Polishing method, brush-like grinding stone, polishing brush, and linear member aggregate
A brush-like grinding stone (3) in a polishing brush (1) includes a brush holder (6) and a linear member aggregate (7) detachably held in the brush holder (6). The linear member aggregate (7) includes a large number of bundles (51) of the linear members (50) obtained by hardening aggregated yarn of inorganic filaments impregnated with a resin, and a brush holder (70) holding ends of the bundles (51). A linear member holder (70) in the linear member aggregate (7) is detachably attached to each of a plurality of holding holes (68) that is open in one side in an axial line direction L. In a case where any of the linear member aggregates has a failure, such as breakage, only the failed linear member aggregate needs to be replaced. Thus, it is not necessary to discard the entire brush-like grinding stone. Consequently, the polishing cost can be reduced.
POLISHING PAD CONDITIONING APPARATUS
A polishing pad conditioning apparatus according to an example embodiment of the present inventive concept includes an apparatus body, a pivot arm provided on the apparatus body and including a housing having an internal space and provided at a distal end portion of the pivot arm and a head unit disposed at the distal end portion of the pivot arm. The head unit includes: a rotary motor provided in the internal space of the housing, the rotary motor including a rotary shaft; a foreign material blocking member connected to the rotary shaft; a disk holder connected to the rotary shaft; and a conditioning disk coupled to the disk holder. The foreign material blocking member includes a fluid flow groove configured to guide a movement of fluid for preventing foreign objects from entering the housing on an outer surface of the foreign material blocking member.
POROUS POLYMERIC POLISHING BRISTLES AND METHODS FOR THEIR MANUFACTURE
Polishing media in the form of bristles made from a porous, non-porous, or minimally porous polymer-based material, apparatus and systems including the media, and methods of forming and using the media, apparatus, and systems are disclosed. An exemplary method of manufacturing bristles for use in polishing a workpiece which includes a non-planar surface includes the steps of combining a liquid polymer comprising a TDI polyester pre-polymer having an NCO content in the range of 5% with a curative to form a polymeric material, separating the foamed polymeric material into a plurality of bristles, and stitching the bristles onto a platen.
METHOD OF ABRADING A TEST TRACK WITH A BITUMINOUS SURFACE
A method for breaking in the surface condition of an asphalt test track for vehicles, comprising: modifying the condition of the surface of the test track with a treatment machine; placement on the treatment machine (1) of at least one rotary abrasive disc (4); and moving the treatment machine on the test track so as to reduce the friction coefficient to achieve a friction level corresponding to that of a broken-in track.
RADIAL BRUSH FOR GRINDING AND POLISHING PURPOSES
Disclosed is a disk-shaped radial brush for grinding or polishing, including a plate-shaped central body having two side faces and a substantially central opening, and having a plurality of bristles radially extending away from the central body. In order to achieve an assembly of these radial brushes into brush rollers, it is proposed to provide the central body with protrusions on at least one of the side faces and with corresponding receiving members on the other side face. This allows utilizing corresponding radial brushes in brush rollers without slippage of individual radial brushes or without compressing them too much in order to avoid said slippage and thereby deforming them.
Wheel shape follow-up burr brushing device
A wheel shape follow-up burr brushing device can brush burrs from a front, a back cavity and a spoke root groove of the wheel. The heights of brushes are adjusted, so that the brushes follow up the shape of the front, the back cavity and the spoke root groove of the wheel. The wheel is put onto a positioning roller bed by a manipulator, a positioning clamping cylinder drives four clamping wheels to clamp the wheel, four clamping wheel drive motors drive the wheel to be in a low-speed rotating state; two second cylinders drive a second rotating table to be fed downwards, two first cylinders drive a first rotating table to be fed upwards, and the rotating wheel is matched with the rotating brushes to brush burrs from the front, the back cavity and the spoke root groove of the wheel.
Fiber based finishing tools
A finishing tool for modifying a surface of a part, including: a base, wherein the base is one or more of rotated and translated; and one or more fibers coupled to the base; wherein a base portion of each of the one or more fibers is disposed at a first angle relative to a major axis of the base, wherein the first angle is equal to or between 90 degrees and 90 degrees; and wherein, in operation, an end portion of each of the one or more fibers is disposed at a second angle relative to the major axis of the base, wherein the second angle is approximately 90 degrees or 90 degrees, substantially parallel to the surface of the part. In operation, the base portion and the end portion of each of the one or more fibers is coupled by a continuously curved intermediate portion.
