HIGH LEVERAGE LOCKING PLIERS
20220234172 · 2022-07-28 · ·

High leverage locking-type pliers incorporating a four bar linkage system adapted to amplify force applied by the user to an object gripped between jaws of the pliers. The pliers include first and second handles, first and second jaws, and a center link rotatably or pivotally coupled to the first and second handles. A first link pivot where the center link rotatably or pivotally couples to the second handle may be a first distance L1 away from a second jaw pivot where the second jaw rotatably or pivotally couples the second handle. A first jaw pivot where the second jaw rotatably or pivotally couples the first handle is a second distance L2 away from the second jaw pivot. In an embodiment, the first distance L1 is about 34% to about 70% of the second distance L2.

A pliers includes two main bodies pivotally coupled to one another. A first main body defines a first pivot hole and a second main body defines a second pivot hole respectively. The first pivot hole has a first inner peripheral section with a flaring conical shape. Furthermore, the first pivot hole has a second inner peripheral section with a flaring conical shape. The first inner peripheral section has a first cone angle and the second inner peripheral section has a second cone angle respectively. The second cone angle is smaller than the first cone angle. The first and the second main bodies are pivotally interconnected with a fastener. The fastener has a first outer peripheral section abutting and conforming to the first inner peripheral section and a second outer peripheral section abutting and conforming to the second inner peripheral section respectively.

Cutting pliers include a first plier body and a second plier body. The first plier body includes a support end and a first handle coupled to each other. The second plier body includes a cutting end and a second handle coupled to each other. The first handle and the second handle are rotationally coupled by a connecting shaft. The support end and the cutting end cooperatively form jaws for cutting a pipe. The support end comprises a convex arcuate surface for supporting a pipe. The cutting end comprises two clamping arms and a blade. The blade is arranged between the two clamping arms. When the jaws are closed, a clamping end of the clamping arms abuts against the pipe, the pipe on the arcuate support surface is squeezed and deformed along the arcuate support surface to form an arcuate pipe, and the blade abuts against the arcuate pipe.
