Composite materials for bone repair based on decellularized biological tissue matrix material and the preparation method thereof

A composite material for bone repair based on a decellularized biological tissue matrix material and a preparation method thereof. The composite material for bone repair comprises an organic phase of a microfibrillar decellularized animal tissue matrix material and an inorganic phase of a calcium salt bioceramic or other inorganic bioglass. A preparation process for the composite material for bone repair does not need physical or chemical crosslinking. The composite material for bone repair has a three-dimensional porous network structure, and protein components in the biological tissue matrix material maintain a natural triplex structure. The composite material for bone repair has excellent biocompatibility, biodegradability, osteoconductivity, osteoinductivity, and osteogenecity, also has certain mechanical strength and shape memory function, and can be used as a bone filling material or a repair material for large-area bone defect.

This invention provides solid substrates for promoting cell or tissue growth or restored function, which solid substrate is characterized by a specific fluid uptake capacity value of at least 75%, which specific fluid uptake capacity value is determined by establishing a spontaneous fluid uptake value divided by a total fluid uptake value. This invention also provides solid substrates for promoting cell or tissue growth or restored function, which solid substrate is characterized by having a contact angle value of less than 60 degrees, when in contact with a fluid. This invention also provides solid substrates for promoting cell or tissue growth or restored function, which solid substrate is characterized by a substantial surface roughness (Ra) as measured by scanning electron microscopy or atomic force microscopy. The invention also provides for processes for selection of an optimized coral-based solid substrate for promoting cell or tissue growth or restored function and applications of the same.

REINFORCED TISSUE GRAFT

One aspect of the present disclosure can include a biocompatible tissue graft. The graft can include an extracellular matrix (ECM) patch or strip and at least one fiber stitched into the ECM patch or strip in a peripheral reinforcement pattern. The at least one fiber can have opposing terminal ends. The at least one fiber can mitigate tearing and/or improve fixation retention of the ECM patch or strip. The at least one fiber can comprise a plurality of interconnected stitches. The opposing terminal ends of the at least one fiber can be stitched together to form a continuous stitching construction.
