Clenching adapter for automatic nailers

A clenching adapter for use with automatic nailers tools is provided, which mounts to a nailer tool, and which extends behind a two-layer workpiece and curls the tip of a driven nail on the opposite side of the multiple-layer workpiece. The adapter includes a movable extension link that pivots on a proximal end, due to the action of an air cylinder actuator, and that pivoting motion causes an anvil mounted on its distal end to grasp the opposite (bottom) side of the workpiece, while also positioning the anvil to a location where it intercepts the nail that will be fired through the workpiece by the nailer tool. The anvil mechanism rotates from a relaxed position that fits within a gap in the boards of a workpiece, to an actuated ready position that receives and curls the nail, for clenching a multi-substrate workpiece. The actuations are automatically sequenced, in one embodiment.

A flat clinch assembly fits upon or within a base of a stapling device. The assembly preferably includes a slot with extended resiliently biased arms or toggles, where a rest position has the arms at or near a level of a working surface. An ejecting staple deflects and energizes the arms to cause the arms to rotate and create a clearance recess whereby points of the staple legs slide inward along the anvil. A restorative bias acting on the arms causes the arms to rebound to a rest position and to bend the legs upward. The legs thereby are normally pressed flat against the back sheet of a paper stack at the working surface. The arms or toggles are lightweight whereby the inertia of a fast-moving staple moves the arms or toggles. The toggle may include an upward facing staple leg guide channel.

A stapler includes a staple striking portion configured to strike a staple to penetrate sheets of paper and a clincher portion configured to bend staple legs of the staple penetrating the sheets of paper. The clincher portion includes a pair of clinchers. The pair of clinchers are configured to perform a first operation and a second operation. In the first operation, the pair of the clinchers move along a surface direction of the sheets of paper to approach each other. In the second operation, the pair of clinchers move to approach the sheets of paper after the first operation.

CORDLESS CARTON CLOSING TOOL AND METHOD OF REPLACING A CARTON CLOSER CLINCHING MEMBER

A method for replacing a clincher anvil of a clincher assembly of a fastener driving tool is provided. The method includes removing a first connector connecting the mount to a connecting rod operatively connected to a motor of the fastener driving tool through a first aperture in the housing, aligning second connector connecting the clincher anvil to a portion of the clinching assembly with a second aperture in the housing, removing the second connector through the second aperture, removing the clincher arm from the fastener driving tool, aligning a replacement clincher arm with the portion of the clinching assembly, inserting the second connector through the second aperture, securing the replacement clincher arm to the portion of the clinching assembly, inserting the first connector through the first aperture and into the mount, and connecting the mount to the connecting rod.

Sheet-stapling apparatus that staples center-folded sheets by staple, and image-forming system using the same

A sheet-stapling apparatus mounts a center-folded booklet and staples the booklet at a fold of the booklet by a staple. The sheet-stapling apparatus has a supporting member that mounts the center-folded booklet, a pushing member that pushes the booklet to the supporting member, a stapler that penetrates the staple through the booklet and a clincher that clinches legs of the staple to bind the booklet. The pushing member has a groove that pushes the fold of the booklet and maintains the fold of the booklet at a pushing angle. The supporting member forms the space between the clincher and the booklet.
