Driving tool
12337454 · 2025-06-24 · ·

A driving tool comprises a tool main body that includes a driver for driving a U-shaped staple, and a main magazine for housing a plurality of staples that extends from the tool main body. The driving tool also comprises a sub-magazine to which a pusher and a staple guide are attachable. The pusher pushes the staples in the main magazine toward the tool main body. The staple guide is inserted between a pair of legs of the staple in the main magazine. The driving tool also comprises a guide mechanism for guiding the sub-magazine toward the tool main body from an opening position to a closing position with respect to the main magazine. The guide mechanism also guides the sub-magazine in a direction opposite to a driving direction while the sub-magazine moves from the opening position to the closing position.

A workpiece contact element for a fastener driver includes a body defining a fastener receiving region through which fasteners are fed from a magazine of the fastener driver. The body having a base surface parallel with a fastener driving axis of the fastener driver. The workpiece contact element also includes a fastener guiding portion disposed forward of the fastener receiving region and extending in a direction of the fastener driving axis and a tip retainer includes a longitudinal protrusion and a pair of opposed lateral protrusions. The longitudinal protrusion extends from a forwardmost end of the body, and the opposed lateral protrusions are position on opposite lateral sides of the body adjacent the forwardmost end. The fastener guiding portion includes a platform extending above the base surface of the body and spaced rearwardly from the forwardmost end of the body.

GAS SPRING-POWERED FASTENER DRIVER
20250289107 · 2025-09-18 ·

A powered fastener driver including a driver blade movable from a top-dead-center (TDC) position toward a bottom-dead-center (BDC) position for driving a fastener into a workpiece, a nosepiece through which the fastener is driven into the workpiece that is configured to guide the driver blade and the fastener into the workpiece, and a lifting assembly for providing torque to move the driver blade from the (BDC) position toward the TDC position. The lifting assembly includes a rotary lifter for engaging the driver blade to move the driver blade toward the (TDC) position. The rotary includes a body having a central aperture, a flange radially extending from the body that defines an outer radial profile configured to contact the driver blade to return the driver blade from the BDC position toward the TDC position, and a non-rotating mounting shaft coupled to the central aperture to rotatably support the rotary lifter thereon.

Fastener driving tool using a gas spring

A portable linear fastener driving tool is provided that drive staples, nails, or other linearly driven fasteners. The tool uses a gas spring principle, in which a cylinder filled with compressed gas is used to quickly force a piston through a driving stroke movement, while a driver also drives a fastener into a workpiece. The piston/driver is then moved back to its starting position by use of a rotary-to-linear lifter, and the piston again compresses the gas above the piston, thereby preparing the tool for another driving stroke. The driver has protrusions along its edges that contact the lifter, which lifts the driver during a return stroke. A pivotable latch is controlled to move into either an interfering position or a non-interfering position with respect to the driver protrusions, and acts as a safety device, by preventing the driver from making a full driving stroke at an improper time.

FASTENER CAP DRIVING TOOL WITH SELF-REVERSING LEAD SCREW CAP FEEDER

A fastener cap driving tool with a pressurized gas storage chamber that uses that pressurized gas as a gas spring to quickly force a piston and a driver into contact with a fastener. The pressurized gas is not vented to atmosphere, but is instead reused, and a motor powers a lifter to return the piston and the driver for the next driving stroke. The tool has a fastener magazine, and a separate cap magazine which includes an additional motor that powers a self-reversing lead screw. The lead screw acts as a feed pawl, and advances a collated strip of caps from the cap magazine towards an exit end of the tool. During a driving stroke, one fastener is driven through one cap, securing both to a workpiece.
