Fastening tool assembly

A fastening tool assembly has a magazine body in a sleeve to convey fasteners to a housing outlet. Pivoting a lever relative to the housing, translates a knife to a loaded position, thereby disengaging from the knife, permitting a spring to return the knife to an unloaded position to drive a fastener through the outlet. A handle is pivotally connected to the housing. A roller is directly connected to the lever and the handle for permitting translation of the lever relative to the handle as the lever and the handle are pivoted relative to the housing. A spring-loaded bracket is operably connected to the magazine body for translation and rotation relative to the body. A latch is mounted to the housing to engage the bracket and maintain the magazine body in a retracted position, and is movable to a disengaged position wherein the bracket extends from the magazine body.

A magazine assembly and a stapler including the same are provided. The magazine assembly includes a base and a rail assembly. The base has a first end portion and a second end portion. A direction from the second end portion toward the first end portion is defined as a first direction. The rail assembly is disposed on the base and adapted for a staple unit to slidably abut thereagainst along the first direction. The rail assembly includes a first rail and a second rail which are separate. A first side wall of the first rail has at least one guide portion extending in the first direction. Each guide portion is adapted for a head of a T-shaped staple to slidably engage therewithalong the first direction. The second rail is adapted for a U-shaped staple to abut thereagainst.

A stapler includes a body; a handle coupled to the body, the handle movable between a rest position and an actuated position; a magazine configured to support a plurality of fasteners; a driver that successively drives each of the plurality of fasteners into a workpiece in response to the handle moving to the activated position; and an advancer that moves the plurality of fasteners towards the driver, wherein the advancer comprises an advancer body and a lock feature disposed at a leading end of the advancer body, and wherein the driver comprises a complementary lock feature that interfaces with the lock feature of the advancer when the plurality of fasteners is exhausted to lockout the stapler.

FASTENER MAGAZINE RELEASE SYSTEM

A track release system for a fastening tool such as a staple gun that may be exposed and operated substantially from under the tool. A track pull and selectively linked operative features are preferably fitted near a rear of a track. A user normally turns the tool upside down to access the track pull features for reloading fasteners. The track pull and associated elements are not exposed on a side of the tool body but rather on the rear and bottom. While the track release structure is below the track, the enabling structure remains vertically compact whereby the size of the tool need not be extended downward to accommodate the operative elements.

A stapler includes a main body having a front side and a bottom side extending from the front side. A staple discharge opening is defined on the bottom side proximate the front side. The stapler further includes a magazine movable between a received position within the main body and a withdrawn position, and a latch mechanism including an actuator movable between a latched position and an unlatched position. When the magazine is in the received position and the actuator is in the latched position the magazine is retained from movement toward the withdrawn position, and when the actuator is in the unlatched position the magazine is movable relative to the main body from the received position to the withdrawn position. The actuator is positioned within a recess defined by the main body when the magazine is in the received position.

A fastening tool assembly is provided with a housing with a contact surface, a longitudinal magazine receptacle, and a fastener outlet provided through the contact surface. A magazine body is received within the magazine receptacle to translate to a retracted position whereby a proximal end is adjacent the fastener outlet to store fasteners within the receptacle and to convey the fasteners to the fastener outlet, and to translate to an extended position whereby the body extends at least partially out of the receptacle for receipt of fasteners to the receptacle. A blocker is mounted to a side of the magazine body spaced apart from the fastener intake side. The blocker has a transverse width greater than a width of the body for blocking intake of fasteners to a wrong side of the body. Instructional indicia are provided on the blocker to instruct a user regarding proper fastener installation.

HAMMER TACKER

A hammer tacker includes an outer housing comprising a handle portion and a head portion, the outer housing formed from a fiber reinforced polymer material. The hammer tacker also includes an elongated staple holder carried at least partially within the outer housing, the elongated staple holder being slideable between a use position and a refill position. The outer housing having the fiber reinforced polymer material defines a channel extending through the handle portion and into the head portion, the channel configured to receive the staple holder. The staple holder is slidable along the channel of the outer housing between the use position and the refill position. The hammer tacker further includes a staple driver assembly operable to drive a staple from the staple holder into a workpiece.

Hammer tacker

A hammer tacker comprises a housing, a staple holder, and a latch operatively connected to the staple holder. The latch comprises a pivotable press member that is movable about a pivot axis between a lock position and a release position. The pivotable press member is resiliently biased towards the lock position. An elongated body of the staple holder is biased towards a normal position and movable against such bias to a jam release position while the staple holder remains in the operative position. The elongated body has a rearward portion thereof extending in longitudinally overlapping relation with a rearward portion of the pivotable press member, such that pivotal movement of the pivotable press member towards the rearward portion of the elongated body causes the pivotable press member to be moved from the lock position to the release position.
