Processes and methods for conductive elements on catheter elements used for tissue sensing and cryogenic ablation
A method, system and device for securing conductive material on catheter elements for tissue sensing and cryogenic ablation. This may be used to deposit or embed conductive material onto or within polymeric materials. The method of manufacturing a balloon with conductive material may include extruding a polymeric material where the polymeric material includes embedded electrically conductive material. At least a portion of the polymeric material may be removed to expose at least a portion of the embedded electrically conductive material. The benefits may include allowing local bipolar recordings, contact assessment and ice thickness, and compatibility with 3-dimensional electroanatomical mapping systems.
ANTIMICROBIAL TUBULAR CONDUITS
Tubular conduits are provided which have an outer surface and/or an inner surface functionalized with at least one antimicrobial peptide having the sequence X.sub.1X.sub.2WVX.sub.3IWVX.sub.4X.sub.5, wherein X.sub.1, X.sub.2, X.sub.3, X.sub.4 and X.sub.5 are independently selected from K and R and wherein each amino acid is independently in the D or L configuration, or a salt or solvate thereof. The tubular conduits are preferably made of biodegradable polymeric material. The functionalization of the tubular conduits with the at least one antimicrobial peptide prevents contamination caused by Gram negative bacteria, Gram positive bacteria, fungi, yeasts and/or viruses.
CONTROLLED POROSITY DEVICES FOR TISSUE TREATMENTS, METHODS OF USE, AND METHODS OF MANUFACTURE
In various embodiments, a device is provided comprising a balloon configured to expand to an expanded state in response to introduction of a fluid at a first pressure, wherein the fluid perfuses through the balloon above a second pressure, the second pressure being the same or greater than the first pressure. In various embodiments, a method comprising fabricating a balloon configured to expand to an expanded state in response to introduction of a fluid at a first pressure, wherein the fluid perfuses through the balloon above a second pressure, the second pressure being at or greater than the first pressure, disposing the balloon on an elongate member having a lumen, placing the lumen in fluid communication with an interior volume of the balloon.
Bioactive coatings
Antimicrobial and antithrombogenic polymer or polymeric blend, compounds, coatings, and materials containing the same, as well as articles made with, or coated with the same, and methods of making the same exhibiting improved antimicrobial properties and reduced platelet adhesion. Embodiments include polymers with antimicrobial and antithrombogenic groups bound to a single polymer backbone, an antimicrobial polymer blended with an antithrombogenic polymer, and medical devices coated with the antimicrobial and antithrombogenic polymer or polymeric blend.

The present invention is in the fields of medicinal chemistry, biotechnology and pharmaceuticals. The invention provides compositions comprising one or more collagen mimetic peptides, optionally attached to one or more therapeutic compounds or one or more imaging compounds, for use in methods of treating, preventing, ameliorating, curing and diagnosing certain diseases and physical disorders in humans and veterinary animals, as well as methods of manufacturing such composition. The invention also provides medical devices comprising one or more such compositions of the invention. The invention also provides methods of use of such compositions and devices in treating and diagnosing certain diseases and physical disorders in humans and veterinary animals, including ocular diseases or disorders, skin diseases or disorders, certain cancers, particularly intraluminal cancers, gastrointestinal diseases or disorders, genitourinary tract diseases or disorders, fibrotic diseases/disorders and rheumatic diseases/disorders.
ENDOSCOPIC FLEXIBLE TUBE, ENDOSCOPIC MEDICAL APPARATUS, AND ENDOSCOPIC-FLEXIBLE-TUBE-BASE-COVERING MATERIAL
An endoscopic flexible tube including a sleeve-shaped flexible-tube base having flexibility, and a cover layer for the flexible-tube base, wherein the cover layer contains (a) at least one of (a1) a polyester resin having a naphthalene structure or (a2) a polyester elastomer having a naphthalene structure, and (b) at least one of (b1) a thermoplastic resin not having a naphthalene structure or (b2) a thermoplastic elastomer not having a naphthalene structure, and, in the cover layer, a ratio of the component (a) to a total amount of the components (a) and (b) is more than 50 mass % and less than 90 mass %; an endoscopic medical apparatus including the endoscopic flexible tube; and a covering material for the endoscopic-flexible-tube base.
LUBRICIOUS URINARY CATHETERS HAVING VARYING FLEXIBILITY
A catheter having a shaft made from polyvinyl alcohol where in the shaft has a varying stiffness along the length of the shaft.
Sliding elastic body
Provided are a sliding elastic body capable of imparting excellent sliding properties and resistance to protein adsorption and, at the same time, maintaining sealing properties; and a syringe gasket, a catheter, and a tire which include the sliding elastic body. The present invention relates to a sliding elastic body including an elastic body whose surface is fully or partially laminated with a fluororesin film, the laminated elastic body being treated with a fluorinated oil.
