PHARMACEUTICAL COMPOSITIONS AND DEVICE METHODS FOR TREATMENT OF PROLIFERATIVE DISEASES
A method for treating proliferative diseases by delivering a combination of at least two pharmaceutically active agents to a diseased area or tissue comprising a coating layer of two hydrophobic drugs applied to an exterior surface of a device or a substrate wherein the first pharmaceutically active agent is selected from a group consisting of mTor inhibitors and the second pharmaceutically active agent is selected from a group of consisting of NF-kβ inhibitors. Further a method for treating proliferative diseases by delivering a combination of at least two pharmaceutically active agents to a diseased area or tissue comprising: a coating layer of two hydrophobic drugs applied to an exterior surface of a medical device or substrate and a polymer blend carrier for the pharmaceutically active agents.
Medical devices and implements with liquid-impregnated surfaces
Described herein are medical devices and medical implements with high lubricity to flesh (or biological fluid) and/or inhibited nucleation on its surface. The device has a surface comprising an impregnating liquid and a plurality of micro-scale and/or nano-scale solid features spaced sufficiently close to stably contain the impregnating liquid therebetween. The impregnating liquid fills spaces between said solid features, the surface stably contains the impregnating liquid between the solid features, and the impregnating liquid is substantially held in place between the plurality of solid features regardless of orientation of the surface.

Collagen peptide-based medicament compositions and devices and methods of production and use thereof
The present invention is in the fields of medicinal chemistry, biotechnology and pharmaceuticals. The invention provides compositions comprising one or more collagen mimetic peptides, optionally attached to one or more therapeutic compounds or one or more imaging compounds, for use in methods of treating, preventing, ameliorating, curing and diagnosing certain diseases and physical disorders in humans and veterinary animals, as well as methods of manufacturing such composition. The invention also provides medical devices comprising one or more such compositions of the invention. The invention also provides methods of use of such compositions and devices in treating and diagnosing certain diseases and physical disorders in humans and veterinary animals, including ocular diseases or disorders, skin diseases or disorders, certain cancers, particularly intraluminal cancers, gastrointestinal diseases or disorders, genitourinary tract diseases or disorders, fibrotic diseases/disorders and rheumatic diseases/disorders.
MEDICAL DEVICE COATING WITH A BIOCOMPATIBLE LAYER
Medical devices with a hydrogel layer covalently attached to a portion of the outer surface of the medical device are provided along with methods for applying the coating. The hydrogel layer can include a first polymer species comprising polyethylene glycol (PEG) and a second polymer species. Examples of the second polymer species include PEG and polyacrylamide (PAM). The first and second species can be at least partially cross-linked. Methods for forming the hydrogel coatings on the medical devices are provided including nucleophilic conjugate reactions, such as Click reactions.
COATED BALLOON CATHETER AND COMPOSITION FOR COATING SAID BALLOON CATHETER
The invention relates to a coated balloon catheter with a catheter substrate and a coating on the catheter substrate. The coating comprises a pharmaceutically active ingredient embedded in a binder matrix. The binder matrix consists of a polyethylene glycol-polyvinyl alcohol copolymer (PEG-PVA copolymer) and optionally shellac or a shellac derivative and additional pharmaceutically acceptable additives. A composition for coating the balloon catheter comprises the pharmaceutically active ingredient and a binder consisting of a PEG-PVA copolymer and optionally shellac or a shellac derivative. The active ingredient and the binder are dissolved in a solvent consisting of water, DMSO and at least one additional organic solvent indefinitely miscible with water.
BIOCOMPATIBLE COATINGS AND HYDROGELS FOR REDUCING FOREIGN BODY RESPONSE AND FIBROSIS
Zwitterionic polymers or biocompatible polymers with improved properties for cell encapsulation, coating of devices, or a combination thereof are described. The biocompatible polymer contains a zwitterionic monomer, a monomer with a reactive side chain, and optionally another hydrophobic monomer or a neutral hydrophilic monomer. The zwitterionic polymers are cross-linked with a cross-linker via covalent bond to form a zwitterionic hydrogel in the presence of cells. Also provided, are methods of making and using the zwitterionic polymers.
Removable covers for drug eluting medical devices
The present disclosure includes an expandable medical device and outer sheath combination. The outer sheath is capable of being split to form multiple sheath sections that may be peeled back to expose a portion or all of the expandable medical device. The medical device, as well as the outer sheath, may include one or more therapeutic agents for delivery to a treatment area within a patient.
Lubricious one-part hydrophilic coatings
A lubricious coating for use on an implantable medical device includes a heterochelic component, a homotelechelic polymer and biocompatible initiator. Methods of forming such lubricious coatings are also provided.
Compositions and methods for reducing or preventing medical device-related infections
Provided herein is a method of reducing a microbial infection of a heparinized surface wherein heparin precipitation is reduced as compared to a control. In some embodiments a composition comprising ethanol and isopropanol is applied to the surface. In other embodiments, two or more ethanol compositions are applied and removed sequentially from the surface prior to contacting the surface with a biological fluid, tissue or vessel, wherein the composition in each successive administration comprises an increased amount of ethanol. Also provided is a method of reducing a microbial infection of a surface comprising applying a mucilage extract from an Opuntia ficus indica species to the surface.
