HOT MELT ADHESIVES AND USES THEREOF
The disclosure relates to adhesive compositions comprising a semi-crystalline olefin polymer or copolymer and a functionalized wax, functionalized olefin polymer, or mixture thereof. These compositions are useful as, for example, adhesives in disposable articles such as diapers, adult incontinence articles, underpads, personal care garments, and the like.
BIOABSORBABLE MEDICAL MATERIAL
An embodiment of the present invention is to provide a bioabsorbable medical material having adhesiveness to a biological tissue and improved degradability. A bioabsorbable medical material according to an embodiment of the present invention contains a crosslinked polymer material forming a specific shape, and a disintegration delaying material retained by the crosslinked polymer material. The crosslinked polymer material has degradability in water, the degradability being suppressed in the presence of an acid. The disintegration delaying material releases 0.5 mol%/day or greater of an acid until the seventh day upon contact with water at 37° C.
Photo-cross-linkable shape-memory polymer and preparation method therefor
The present invention relates to a photo-cross-linkable shape-memory polymer and a preparation method therefor. The shape-memory polymer according to one embodiment of the present invention comprises a photo-cross-linkable functional group, and thus a shape-memory polymer having a melting point suitable for a physiological or medical application device can be provided. Particularly, a method for preparing the shape-memory polymer, according to one embodiment of the present invention, uses a catalyst for inducing the simultaneous ring-opening polymerization of two monomers (CL, GMA) during synthesis of the shape-memory polymer, thereby enabling the synthesis time of the shape-memory polymer to be reduced, and shape-memory polymers having various melting points can be readily prepared by controlling the introduction amounts of CL and GMA.
Hybrid bone plate
A bone fixation plate comprises a main body formed of a first material and a support member formed of a second, different material and attached to the main body. The main body defines a first set of openings and the support member defines a second set of openings aligned with the first set of openings. For each opening of the first set of openings, a main body circumferential surface is disposed adjacent and continuous with a support member circumferential surface of the second set of openings to define an opening circumferential surface that bounds an opening of the first set of openings and an opening of the second set of openings.
DI-CUMYL PEROXIDE CROSSLINKING OF UHMWPE
The inventions provide methods of manufacturing peroxide cross-linked and high temperature melted polymeric material, for example ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) containing vitamin E, total joint implants with high wear resistance, high oxidation resistance, and very low concentration of residual by-products, as well as products made thereby.
Durable antimicrobial layer for implantable medical devices
An implantable medical device includes a polymer substrate and at least one nanofiber. The polymer substrate includes a surface portion extending into the polymer substrate from a surface of the substrate. The at least one nanofiber includes a first portion and a second portion. The first portion is interpenetrated with the surface portion of the substrate, and mechanically fixed to the substrate. The second portion projects from the surface of the substrate.
Alternative use for hydrogel intrasaccular occlusion device with vertically oriented reinforcement members for structural support
A device for endovascular treatment to ameliorate aneurysm recurrences by deploying a treatment mesh having a plurality of vertically oriented elongated support reinforcement elements that are substantially parallel and oriented upon a plane in communication with the mesh. Upon deployment, the array of distal ends of the support extensions and reinforcements are substantially oriented upon a plane, which plane is in substantially the same orientation as the opening of the aneurysm into which the device was deployed. The treatment mesh may incorporate a coating of hydrogel, optionally impregnated with pharmaceutical compounds.

Method for Treating Tissue
Methods for treating tissue are provided. In one embodiment, an adjunct material, when secured to tissue, can receive at least one physiological element released from the tissue during healing progression of the tissue, and can exhibit first and second stiffnesses in compression that are approximately constant during first and second time periods from contact with the tissue, with the second stiffness decreasing with time as a function of at least one of oxidation, enzyme-catalyzed hydrolysis, and change of pH resulting from interaction with the at least one physiological element. In another embodiment, the adjunct can receive a unit volume of fluid that causes first and second portions of the adjunct to expand according to first and second expansion behaviors that differ from one another to apply different pressures to the tissue.
FUNCTIONALIZED SYNTHETIC SURGICAL MESH
Disclosed herein are surgical mesh materials and methods of production and use thereof.
