System and method for robotic assembly

A robotic system is provided for assembling parts together. In the assembly process, both parts are moving separately with one part moving on an assembly base and another part moving on a moveable arm of a robot base. Motion data is measured by an inertial measurement unit (IMU) sensor. Movement of the robot base or moveable arm is then compensated based on the measured motion to align the first and second parts with each other and assemble the parts together.

Method of plotting ultraviolet (UV) radiation for disinfection

Implementations of the disclosed subject matter provide a method of moving, using a drive system, a mobile robot within an area. Detecting, using at least one sensor of the mobile robot, at least one of air within the area, a surface within the area, and/or an object within the area. The area may be mapped in three dimensions based on the detecting of at least one of the air, the surface, and the object as the mobile robot moves within the area. Ultraviolet (UV) light may be emitted from a light source of the mobile robot to disinfect at least a portion of the area. A representation of the emission of the UV light may be plotted onto the mapped area to generate an exposure plot, where the representation is of the UV light emitted on at least one of the air, the surface, and the object in the area.

A collision-detection device for a gripper system of a handling device, with at least two gripping jaws arranged on a flange plate, detects collisions between the gripper system and an object. The device includes a safety device configured to lock the collision-detection device to the gripper system and/or dampen the collision-detection device with the gripper system. The safety device is configured to receive from the flange a change in force and/or a change in torque generated by contact between the gripping jaws and the object. The device further includes a sensor configured to detect a change in distance which exceeds a predetermined permissible change in distance between the flange plate and a reference, the change in distance resulting from the at least one of the change in force and the change in torque.

This robot controller causes a robot to follow a target, while a transfer device moves the target, by using a detection result obtained by a movement-amount detecting device that detects the amount by which the transfer device moves the target. When the value of any one of the speed, the acceleration, and the jerk of the target calculated based on the detection result obtained by the movement-amount detecting device or the pattern of the speed, the acceleration, and the jerk deviates from the predetermined reference, the robot controller performs predetermined reporting or stops the robot.

Task planning for measurement variances

Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on computer storage media, for modifying a process definition to ensure accuracy, timeliness, or both of workcell measurement. One of the methods includes receiving an initial process definition for a process to be performed by a robot, wherein the process definition defines a sequence of actions to be performed in a workcell, and wherein a first action in the sequence of actions has an associated measurement tolerance; computing a predicted accumulated measurement variance for each of one or more actions that occur before the first action in the sequence; determining that the predicted accumulated measurement variance for the one or more actions that occur before the first action in the sequence exceeds a threshold; and in response, generating a modified process definition that inserts a measurement action at a location in the sequence before the first action.
