The present invention relates to an educational robot that includes a body which forms the main portion of the robot. The educational robot also includes a head mounted on the body which is capable of making human facial expressions. In addition, the educational robot includes a plurality of limbs that are capable of making human perceptible gesture. Further, the educational robot includes an interface housed in the body and allows the user to interact with the interface. In an example, the interface allows the user to select a multimedia content from a library of multimedia content. The educational robot includes an imaging device to capture an image of the user to identify the user. Further, the educational robot renders the multimedia content in an interactive and intuitive way.

In certain aspects, a robot personality may be represented as a personality location in a personality space, which may be a continuous unidimensional or multidimensional space. The dimensions of the personality space may be based on one or more factors. Based on the personality location, an affective state may be maintained for the robot, which may be represented as an affect location in an affect space. The affect location may be updated based on one or more inputs. Accordingly, robot expressions may be influenced based upon the affect location, which in turn is affected by the personality of the robot in the personality space.

Furthermore, there is provided an information processing method that includes controlling, by a processor, an operation of a driving unit. The controlling further includes generating, on the basis of a teaching movement, control sequence data for causing a driving unit of an autonomous mobile body to execute an autonomous movement corresponding to the teaching movement, and causing the driving unit to execute the autonomous movement according to the control sequence data, on the basis of an action plan determined by situation estimation.

An entertainment system includes: a robot device capable of acting in an autonomous action mode in a real world; a server device configured to cause a virtual robot associated with the robot device to act in a virtual world; and a terminal device capable of displaying an image of the virtual world in which the virtual robot acts. The server device provides the image of the virtual world to the terminal device. The server device transmits a request from the virtual robot to the robot device. When the robot device acquires the request from the virtual robot, the robot device acts in a collaboration action mode in which collaboration is made with the virtual robot.

A response apparatus includes a processor that executes a program, and is connected to an acquisition device that acquires biological data and to a display device. The processor executes a target identification process that identifies a feeling expression target of a user using the response apparatus on the basis of the biological data of the user acquired by the acquisition device, a feeling identification process that identifies a feeling of the user on the basis of facial image data of the user, a determination process that determines a feeling indicated by the image displayed on the display device on the basis of the feeling expression target identified by the target identification process and the feeling of the user identified by the feeling identification process. Image data indicating the feeling determined by the determination process is output to the display device.

The method includes measuring, by processing circuitry, an evaluation index of the service robot based on sensor data in a service mode; determining, by the processing circuitry, an operation mode of the service robot from a set of at least two operation modes based on the measured evaluation index; selecting, by the processing circuitry, a behavior to be applied to the operation of the service robot from a set of at least two behaviors based on the operation mode; and controlling, by the processing circuitry, the operation of the service robot based on the behavior.
