Utility blades and combination blade holders
A utility blade includes a first blade retention feature positioned on a proximal edge of a tang of the utility blade. The proximal edge is angularly offset from a longitudinal axis of the utility blade. The first blade retention feature is associated with an engagement axis parallel to the longitudinal axis of the utility blade. The utility blade is configured to translate along the engagement axis to cause the first blade retention feature to engage with a first blade engagement component of a blade holder. The utility blade further includes a second blade retention feature positioned on a second edge of the tang of the utility blade. The second blade retention feature is positioned along the longitudinal axis of the utility blade and between the first blade retention feature and a distal tip of a cutting portion of the utility blade.
Pocket knife
A pocket knife includes a chassis that defines a cavity and a blade having a cutting edge. The blade has a retracted position in which the cutting edge is inside of the cavity and a deployed position in which the cutting edge is outside of the cavity. A recess in the chassis defines a base and a sidewall at an obtuse angle to the base. A pocket clip is engaged with the sidewall of the recess.
WEIGHT-ACTUATED OR INERTIALLY-ACTUATED HAND KNIFE
A weight-actuated or inertially-actuated hand knife includes a handle body with a blade locking button that serves to lock or release a knife blade slidably contained within the handle body. The blade locking button is pressed through a hole in the handle body. One end of the blade locking button rests against a fixed part of a plate that rests on the handle body, and the other end of the button rests against a flexible strip-shaped part of the plate, which is bent towards the blade by default until the button is pressed. The blade includes a stepped end that can abut against the end of the flexible strip-shaped part of the plate. A stop protrudes from the blade and slidably engages a longitudinal cutout in the plate as the blade moves within the handle so as to prevent escape of the blade in both the extended and retracted positions.
UTILITY CUTTER ASSEMBLIES, COMPONENTS FOR USE IN THE ASSEMBLIES, AND RELATED METHODS OF MANUFACTURING
Utility cutter assemblies, components for use in the assemblies, and related methods of manufacturing are provided. More specifically, utility cutter assemblies, components for use in the assemblies, and related methods of manufacturing that incorporate antimicrobial materials are provided.
MAGNETIC LOCKING UTILITY KNIFE
A utility tool device including a handle with a tool recess and a lever arm recess; a rotatable lever arm with a magnet that is configured to fit in the lever arm recess; and a rotatable lever hinge attached to the lever arm and configured to attach to a tool; wherein the tool recess is configured to have a tool fit in the tool recess; and wherein the magnet is configured to lock a tool in place when the lever arm is in the lever arm recess.
Safety cutter with blade change/storage mechanism
A cutter apparatus includes a housing and a blade holder coupled to the housing, wherein the housing includes a distal portion (e.g., a blade storage compartment) that is both slidably and pivotally coupled to portions of the housing and configured to serve as a cover for the blade holder. The cutter apparatus can also include a cover release device configured to facilitate repositioning the cover between a locked position at which the cover is secured to the housing and a released position at which at least a portion of the cover is free to pivotally reposition away from the housing providing access to the blade holder.
Slim pen cutter
The present invention relates to a cutting device, and more particularly to a cutting device having a selectively replaceable and reorientable blade. The cutting device has a housing and a carriage that is movably disposed in the housing, the carriage being movable between a retracted position and an extended position. The cutting device also has a cutting member that is removably disposable and reorientable in the carriage and a cover member that is removably attachable to the housing.
Knife with sliding gear
A utility knife includes a blade, a housing to store the blade, an actuator, and a pinion gear to deploy the blade. The pinion gear includes one or more sets of teeth that are engaged with a fixed rack of the housing and a sliding rack of the blade holder. The pinion gear is also coupled to the actuator, which is configured to linearly translate the pinion gear. As the pinion gear linearly translates between front and back ends of the housing, the pinion gear rotates due to its engagement with the fixed rack. The further engagement between the pinion gear and the sliding rack causes the sliding rack to advance in the same linear direction as the pinion gear by a distance that is greater than the linear distance traversed by the pinion gear, thereby advancing or retracting the blade connected to the blade holder.
UTILITY KNIFE WITH REPLACEABLE BLADES AND RELOADABLE BLADE MAGAZINE
A device is disclosed including a reloadable utility knife having a blade magazine with one or more compartments for storing multiple cutting blades. The blade magazine has a reloading compartment for new blades, and a storage compartment to keep additional blades. The blade magazine is loaded from the rear of the knife body and is locked inside. A working blade may be released before reloaded a fresh blade. The working blade can be extended or retracted multiple times via a blade transport mechanism. The blade magazine may be extracted via the lock mechanism and pushed out by a spring designed for this purpose. The blade transport mechanism, the blade release mechanism, and a blade lock mechanism work in cooperation to allow extension and retraction of a blade, disposing of a blade, and reloading of a blade.
EASILY DISASSEMBLED FOLDING KNIFE
A folding knife can include a handle portion, a pivot element, a blade, a locking element, a cap, and a rotatable wheel. The handle portion can comprise a first side portion and a second side portion. The blade can pivot about the pivot element between an open position and a closed position. The locking element can prevent disassembly of the first and second side portions when the locking element is in a locked position and allow disassembly of the first and second side portions when the locking element is in an unlocked position. The cap can be coupled to the first side portion adjacent the locking element. The pivot element can extend into the cap. The rotatable wheel can be disposed between the first and second side portions and can rotated to selectively retain the first and second side portions together.
