Hair cutting device

A hair cutting device includes a cutter having a guard moveable relative a blade carrier to vary a cutting length within a cutting length range. The cutter has an actuator moveable between first and second positions to move a follower element and the guard to vary the cutting length between two extreme length settings. The cutter is pivotable relative a housing of the cutting device between an open position and a closed position for cutting. The follower element is configured to cooperate with the actuator so that, when the cutter is in the open position with the follower element and guard in the first position, but the actuator is in the second position, pivoting movement of the cutter to the closed position causes the actuator to drive the follower element and the guard to the second position.

A distance between the first and second blade edges defines a blade gap. A yoke is coupled to the second blade and configured to convert motion of a drive into reciprocation of the second blade relative to the first blade to cut hair. A spring includes a spring base and at least one spring arm configured to reciprocate with the second blade. A guide assembly includes a guide and a spring retainer, the guide being positioned between the first blade and the second blade, and the spring retainer fixing the spring base relative to the first blade, wherein in response to moving the guide relative to the first blade, the blade gap changes.

The present disclosure relates to a blade set (16) for a hair cutting appliance (10), comprising a stationary blade (20) and a cutter blade (22), the stationary blade comprising a blade base (40), and a plurality of teeth (44) extending from the blade base in a longitudinal direction (48), wherein the teeth are arranged in a series alternating with tooth gaps (46) therebetween, the tooth gaps defining hair entry slots, wherein the teeth comprise a first side (54) arranged to cooperate with a cutter blade to cut hair and a second side (52) arranged as a skin-facing side, wherein the teeth comprise at the first side at their longitudinal extension processing edges (70, 74), and wherein the processing edges comprise smoothened edge transitions. The present disclosure further relates to a hair cutting appliance (10).

A HAIR CUTTING DEVICE

There is disclosed a hair cutting device (10) comprising a cutting unit (30), the cutting unit comprising: a blade carrier (32) carrying a cutting blade (33), the cutting blade comprising cutting teeth (34); a guard blade (40) comprising guard teeth (42); wherein the guard blade is movable along the blade carrier relative to the cutting blade within a guard length range between a first guard position corresponding to a shortest hair cutting length of the cutting unit and a second guard position corresponding to the longest hair cutting length of the cutting unit; and wherein the blade carrier comprises a stop (35) configured to prevent movement of the guard blade past the first guard position and outside of the guard length range, thereby preventing the cutting length from being below the shortest cutting length.

The actuator is configured to cooperate with the extension mechanism of the cutting unit to vary a cutting length of the cutting unit within a cutting length range, the actuator being moveable between a first actuator position corresponding to a first extreme cutting length of the cutting length range, and a second actuator position corresponding to a second extreme cutting length of the cutting length range. The user-moveable control element is moveable between a range of length control positions between a first control position corresponding to the first actuator position and a second control position corresponding to the second actuator position, and an off position corresponding to deactivation of the drive, wherein the off position is adjacent the first control position. The actuator is in the first actuator position when the drive is deactivated by movement of the control element to the off position. The cutting unit is biased to return the follower element to a first follower position corresponding to engagement with the actuator in the first actuator position.
