Ultraviolet pathogen disinfection system

A pathogen disinfection system includes a base and a pathogen disinfection apparatus having a UV light source disposed in the base and configured to emit UV light to at least partially inactivate pathogens exposed to the emitted UV light. Further, the system includes a beam shaping mechanism configured to shape a path of the emitted UV light so that the UV light is confined to a selected width, a first motion sensor configured to detect when an object or human being has moved into the UV light path and send a first signal in response to detecting such a movement, a proximity sensor configured to detect when a human being is present and send a second signal in response to detecting such a presence, and a controller to activate the UV light source after receiving the first signal and deactivating the UV light source after receiving the second signal.

Disinfecting UVC lamp appliance
10987441 · 2021-04-27 ·

A lamp appliance for emitting UVC light for disinfection is shown and described. The appliance includes timing controls settable by the user to control time of UVC emission and to provide a delay feature enabling a user to set the controls and exit a vicinity being treated by the lamp prior to UVC being emitted. Manual controls are redundant, including a first general power switch for bringing power to control electronics, and also a second switch initiating UVC emission. The appliance includes an illuminated display to annunciate time settings. The UVC element is pivotal on the chassis, to adjust direction of UVC emission. In one position, the UVC element is shielded to limit UVC emission to a limited size target. A remote controller is provided. The appliance is arranged with its length vertically oriented, to occupy minimal floor space.

A health and safety apparatus for entities such as individuals or objects includes a housing containing at least one side opening, a plurality of fluid atomizing dispensers, and a reservoir containing a fluid which includes a sanitizer, sterilizer or disinfectant. The housing includes a top wall and at least one side wall defining an inner chamber. The dispensers are mounted in spaced relation on the top and side walls and are connected with the reservoir. When an entity is arranged in the housing, the atomizing dispensers are activated to spray the fluid onto the entity. In a preferred embodiment, the housing further includes a bottom wall configured for collecting fluid. Preferably, the apparatus includes at least one motion sensor mounted on the housing for detecting motion at a threshold of the side opening to electronically operate the atomizing dispensers for a defined period of time.

DISINFECTION METHOD USING A DISINFECTION AGENT FORMED IN SITU BY REACTION OF H2O2 AND NO2-

The invention relates to a disinfection process comprising the feed materials H.sub.2O.sub.2 and NO.sub.2.sup. and a mixing step and a distribution step, wherein the mixing step and the distribution step (during which each point on the surface being disinfected is wetted with a solution of active substance) are implemented during a processing period Z.sub.A. An exposure step follows, in which the distributed solution of active substance acts upon the surface in contact with the solution of active substance during an exposure period Z.sub.E. In this process, the maximum NO.sub.2.sup. concentration during the mixing step is of 300 mM, and the time-integrated reaction rate W is represented during the exposure period Z.sub.E by the integral formula (I), where k.sub.1 denotes the pH-value-dependent speed constant of the reaction between H.sub.2O.sub.2 and NO.sub.2.sup. and the pH value of the solution of active substance before it contacts the surface being disinfected lies in the range of 2.1pH6.8. The invention also relates to a device for providing the solution of active substance.
