WEAR-INDICATING BLADE
20180133859 · 2018-05-17 ·

A cutting blade partially covered with one or more layers covering a part of the blade, with one of the layers being a wear layer which has a different visual appearance than the underlying material of the blade, and wears away more quickly than the core material when the blade is used, so that the underlying material of the blade is uncovered as soon as this wear layer is completely removed in partial areas, providing a clear visual signal that it needs to be replaced.

Tool for Wrapping Paper Manufactured by 3D Printing
20180117784 · 2018-05-03 ·

A tool for use with wrapping paper is manufactured by a process comprising the step of causing a 3D printer to make the tool using an instruction file which is accessible to the 3D printer. The instruction file includes instructions for a hardware processor which define actions to be taken at and by the 3D printer to manufacture the tool. The tool manufactured in accordance with the instruction file comprises a unitary, plastic stick having a length which extends along an axis of elongation, a broad surface, a bracing surface, and first and second opposing sides extending along the length, separated by a width which is substantially less than the length. The first aide has serrations defined in the plastic stick adjacent the bracing surface. The second side has a non-serrated edge defined in the plastic stick proximate to the bracing surface.

CUTTING APPARATUS AND CUTTING BLADE
20180104730 · 2018-04-19 · ·

A cutting apparatus and a cutting blade are provided that are not only capable of restraining a highly-viscous substance from bending but also capable of preventing a damage of a blade edge part. A pair of cutting blades is provided to be capable of approaching/separating movement, and the cutting blades are arranged with blade edge parts facing each other while having thickness directions oriented in the same direction. The cutting blades each have a thickness gradually increased from a blade edge leading end toward a blade root part and have the blade edge parts each offset from the counterpart blade edge part in the thickness direction of the cutting blades within a range facing a thickness-direction surface of the counterpart cutting blade, and the cutting blades each have the thickness-direction surface made of a material having a hardness lower than that of the counterpart blade edge part.

SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR COATING A BLADE

A method of applying a lubricious coating of a material such as a fluoropolymer to a cutting edge of a blade includes providing the blade having the cutting edge including a tip end, a first facet, and a second facet with the first facet and the second facet adjacent the tip end. The method further includes generating a plasma stream and directing the plasma stream towards the cutting edge. The method further includes introducing a fluid stream containing a dispersion including the fluoropolymer into the plasma stream, thereby simultaneously plasma treating the cutting edge and depositing solids of the dispersion onto the cutting edge.

PIXEL ART CRAYON AND MARKER PHOTO ARRAY ASSEMBLY AND KIT
20180065265 · 2018-03-08 ·

Aspects herein are directed to an apparatus and method for creating pixelated artwork composed of coloring element pixels. In some embodiments, a system converts the millions of pixels and colors of a digital image to a simplified color template with numbers assigned to particular colors. In one embodiment, a plastic grid is configured to cover the color template and receives crayons whose arrangement is determined by the numbers/colors of the color template.

Cutter bar

A cutter bar has a cutter body with a substantially rectangular cross section formed by an upper face, two side faces and a lower face. The upper face together with at least one side face defines a cutting edge, which is formed by one or more hard metal profile strips fastened in a groove in the cutter body. The wall of the groove which adjoins the upper face of the cutter body encloses with the upper face of the cutter body an angle less than 90, preferably 89 to 15, particularly preferably 80 to 40. The wall of the groove which adjoins the lateral face of the cutter body encloses with the lateral face of the cutter body an angle less than 90, preferably 89 to 15, particularly preferably 80 to 40. The hard metal profile strip or hard metal profile strips is or are positively inserted in the groove.

KNIFE BLADE EDGE SERRATIONS AND METHOD THEREFOR
20180043562 · 2018-02-15 ·

Various aspects of the present disclosure are directed toward blades having serrations, and methods for forming the serrations. As may be implemented in accordance with one or more embodiments, laser light is scanned across a surface of a knife blade in which the laser light is intersected with an edge thereof. The laser light is used to serrate the edge of the knife blade by generating heat in the knife blade while the laser light is scanned, melting portions of the knife blade at serration regions at the edge, and removing the melted portions. This approach may be carried out without registering an accurate location of the knife edge, and while also melting portions of the knife blade away from the edge.

Coated tool with coating comprising boride-containing diffusion barrier layer

Coated tool comprising a coated surface, the coated surface comprising a substrate having a surface on which a coating is deposited, wherein the substrate is made of a material comprising cobalt, and wherein the coating comprises at least one boron-comprising layer, wherein the at least one boron-comprising layer comprises Al and the boron comprised in this layer is present as boride, thereby the boron-comprising layer is able to form further layers for providing a diffusion barrier layer effect, in particular for stopping diffusion of cobalt from the substrate surface to the coating, when the coated tool or the coated surface is exposed to temperatures in a range between approximately 600 and 1200 C.

DEVICE FOR SEPARATING MEDICATION PACKAGES AND A MEDICATION DISPENSER
