Workpiece feed/clamp apparatus and cutting machine

A feed/clamp apparatus includes a feed vise mechanism provided upstream from a cutting position, and a downstream vise mechanism provided just downstream from the cutting position. The feed vise mechanism includes first/second feed vise jaws, a downstream moving cylinder for moving the first feed vise jaw, and a downstream shifting cylinder for shifting the second feed vise jaw. The downstream vise mechanism includes first/second downstream vise jaws, a downstream moving cylinder for moving the first downstream vise jaw, and a downstream shifting cylinder for shifting a second downstream vise jaw. A vise surface of the second downstream vise jaw is located on one side of the vise reference position when the downstream shifting cylinder is located its stroke end on the one side. A thrust force of the downstream shifting cylinder toward the one side is made equal to a thrust force of the downstream moving cylinder toward another side.

TRANSPORT DEVICE FOR A CUTTING MACHINE

A transport device, in particular a chain track frame, for a cutting machine, for receiving slices separated from the material to be cut by a cutting blade and for transporting the slices from the cutting blade to a deposit region, includes: a frame on which the following components are mounted: a receiving apparatus for receiving separated slices; a plurality of guide rollers arranged so as to be spaced apart from each other; a drive device for driving a plurality of transport chains or transport belts extending in parallel with each other, the transport chains or transport belts being guided in a closed circulating manner by the drive device via the guide rollers; and a coupling for connecting the drive device to a drive. The frame comprises a single part.

A conversion apparatus is provided herein. The conversion apparatus includes a cutting member having an edge configured for cutting the dunnage material. The conversion apparatus also includes a biasing member that is located adjacent to the cutting member such that the dunnage material passes between the biasing member and the cutting member. The biasing member operably contacts the dunnage material thereby biasing the dunnage material against the cutting member. The position of the biasing member relative to the cutting member is such that in response to the dunnage material being retracted back into the conversion apparatus the cutting member begins to sever the dunnage material, but in response to the dunnage material traveling in the dispensing direction the cutting member does not begin to sever the dunnage material due to the relative position.
