Emergency stop cutting mechanism for a web rewinding device
This invention provides web-cutting mechanism that can be mounted in line at an appropriate location between the web-handling peripheral (printer) and a web roll. The cutting mechanism operates before the available storage in the winder festoon has been exhausted, and decouples the roll's energy from the web. The cutting mechanism can employ a blade that is drawn through the web solely by the movement of the web itself. The blade is mounted at a (e.g.) 45-degree angle to web travel, causing it to be pulled through the web. A negator spring assembly and associated cable drives the blade into the side edge of the web when a slide-mounted blade shuttle assembly is released by a latching pawl of a solenoid assembly. The solenoid is triggered by a signal indicating an emergency stop condition, such as an upstream jam.
Packaging machine infeed, separation, and creasing mechanisms
A machine for forming packing templates includes a infeed mechanism that can feed multiple feeds of sheet material into the machine without repositioning the infeed mechanism or forming creases or bends in the sheet material. The machine also includes a separation and cutting systems with one or more cutting tables and biased knives that cut the sheet material packaging templates. The machine also includes creasing roller(s) that forms creases in the sheet material. The machine also includes a system for reducing or eliminating the impact of irregularities in the sheet material.
Apparatus and method for cutting facestock
Apparatuses and methods for cutting a facestock on a liner. An anvil roller receives facestock on liner. A cutting roller, under a force, cuts facestock between the cutting roller and the anvil roller. At least one support roller supports the cutting roller and, optionally, the anvil roller, thereby distributing the force into two or more portions and/or subportions, in two or more directions. Apparatuses, methods and kits for preparing a cutting surface of a cutting roller in a facestock cutting apparatus, or for extending the usefulness of a cutting roller. An equalizer roller is provided in a position adjacent to the cutting roller. The equalizer roller has an equalizing surface having a hardness at least as hard as a hardness of the cutting surface. The cutting roller is rotated against the equalizer roller such that the cutting surface is equalized by the equalizing surface.
Die punch assembly
A die punch assembly includes a punch lid, a cutting die, a punch base, and an alignment stand. The punch lid includes a transparent lid window. The cutting die is coupled to the punch lid and includes a female portion and a male portion. The female portion includes a die base having an upper elevation, a die head, a die opening extending through the die base and die head, and a passage with at least two open sides between the die base and die head. The male portion is configured to slide through the die opening to cut material positioned within the passage. The punch base is coupled to the cutting die and includes a base opening aligned with the die opening. The alignment stand includes a top surface that is substantially planar with the upper elevation of the die base of the female portion of the cutting die.
ULTRASONIC KNIFE AND ULTRASONIC CUTTING SYSTEM
An ultrasonic knife has a cutting portion formed with at least one cutting edge and a fastening portion. The fastening portion has an external thread for connection to a sonotrode. The cutting portion and the fastening portion are formed in one piece from cemented carbide material. The cemented carbide material includes hard particles that are, at least predominantly, formed by tungsten carbide and a metallic binder. The external thread of the fastening portion has a thread pitch p and is shaped such that the root of the thread turns has a rounded shape with a root radius R of 0.2*p≤R≤0.3*p.
Flat Die Magnetic Holding Base and Metallic, Flat Die for Use Therewith
A flat die magnetic holding base is provided for holding a metallic, flat die. The base can be formed from a metal plate having a front surface and a planar back surface. The front surface can include a planar mounting area. The planar back surface can have a plurality of recesses formed therein. The metal plate has three or more corners, each corner having a through-hole formed therein. Magnets are permanently fixed in recesses formed in the back surface. The magnets are oriented in the recesses such that a magnetic field is generated by the magnets in a direction that magnetically attracts and holds a metallic, flat die, to and on, the planar mounting area. The flat die can be a magnetically-attractable, milled-plate, flexible die. Alignment pins extend away from the planar mounting area and align with through-holes of the metallic, flat die to register the metallic, flat die on the mounting area.
CUTTING OF LARGE POTATOES
An apparatus for cutting potato slices, the apparatus comprising an annular-shaped cutting head and a central impeller coaxially mounted for rotation within the cutting head for delivering potatoes radially outwardly toward the cutting head, a plurality of knives serially mounted annularly around the cutting head, and a plurality of orientation elements serially and annularly mounted within the impeller to define a plurality of cutting zones located around the impeller, each cutting zone being between adjacent orientation elements, wherein radially inner parts of adjacent orientation elements are separated in circumferential direction to define between adjacent orientation elements a throat for passage therethrough of a potato in a radially outward direction into the respective cutting zone toward the cutting head, wherein the throat has a width of from 70 to 140 mm.
Cartridge and tubular container trimming and refinishing apparatus for ink and label removal
A device for removing a thin outer layer from the surface of a cartridge or tubular container such as a caulk cartridge for removal of ink, contaminant, adhesive, or printed or stamped label from the outside of the cartridge. The apparatus includes cartridge hopper and a cartridge handling mandrel or plunger which automatically removes a cartridge from the hopper aligning same for insertion of the cartridge axially through the throat of a spinning ring which contains at least one and preferably a plurality of inwardly extending knifes. The spinning knife distal end trims or peels off the label, adhesive, ink, imperfections, or even a thin film from an outer layer of a selected thickness effectively reconditioning the cartridge for reuse to be filled with virgin material or to be used as uncontaminated re-ground material to be sold as scrap.
Stationary blade support device configured so that stationary blade is not deformed, paper cutting device with stationary blade support device, and printer with paper cutting device
A fixed blade support device includes a biasing member and a fixed blade support member (11). The fixed blade support member (11) includes a base surface portion (11a), an upright surface portion (11b), and a retainer portion (11c). The upright surface portion (11b) extends from the base surface portion (11a) in a biasing direction so as to close a rear side of a root portion of a fixed blade (12) on an opposite side to a blade edge portion thereof, and is configured to prevent the fixed blade (12) from being disengaged in a direction of engagement with a movable blade.
