Linear, small diameter maple spile made of stainless steel or plastic with two o-rings
10130051 · 2018-11-20 ·

This is an original design of a small diameter maple spile. It is designed to facilitate sap movement from any sap-producing tree into the tubing. Two o-rings provide additional sealing surfaces to safeguard against leaks and increase spile visibility. Design and material provide a more hygienic connection between the tree and tubing, compared to the connection of a larger spile, which is more easily contaminated. The small size diameter of the tap hole causes less damage to the tree and consequently allows swift healing. The smaller tap hole also promotes tree health by lessening risks of bacterial and fungal infection. The linear design of this spile allows for ease of cleaning by ultrasonic means and indefinite reuse.

The invention relates to a method for collecting sap from a tree. The method comprises a collection stage and an analysis stage, in which the purity of the sap being collected is determined and, on the basis of the information obtained, the collection stage is terminated. With the aid of the method, sap is produced, in which additives are not used, and which is not heat-treated, and which has, however, good preservability at room temperature. The invention also relates to an apparatus for collecting sap from a tree.

System for tapping and collecting rubber

The present invention relates to a system for tapping and collecting rubber. The system includes a tapping apparatus for tapping rubber and a collecting apparatus for collecting tapped rubber. The tapping apparatus includes a rail directing a drill bit or blade to move between one end of the rail to another end of the rail and to remove tree bark during the movement and a mounting structure configured to hold the rail and connect the tapping apparatus to a tree or plant. The collecting apparatus is positioned below the tapping apparatus for collecting rubber that exudes from a cut tree or plant. The collecting apparatus includes a slide and a tube having an opening and a divider that separates the tube into multiple sections.

Process to harvest organic materials from trees
09961843 · 2018-05-08 ·

A process for harvesting organic material recovers sugars, proteins, aromatics, organic acids and mixtures thereof, from the sapwood of trees or recently pruned sections, e.g. branches. The process involves drilling entry and exit ports to access the sapwood layer and the use of spiles, driven into the ports, to create fluid tight seals for the tubing, which delivers and recovers the solution, which solubilizes the harvested organic material and flows through the sapwood layer. The close proximity of entry and exit ports permits the flow of a pressurized solution. The recovered pumped solution or products therefrom, if desired, can be used in a fermentation medium to prepare products, e.g. alcohol, fatty acids.

Controller with moveable interactive screen

A building controller with wiring terminals that has a moveable interactive screen is disclosed. The moveable interactive screen, when closed, covers the housing that holds the wiring terminals. The specific devices attached to specific terminals and the state of the devices can be displayed on the closed moveable interactive screen. Using the moveable interactive screen, a user can set up the expected devices and their protocols that will be attached to specific wiring terminals within the building controller. The controller wiring terminals can be viewed along with an interactive diagram of the devices and the terminals that have been set up for the building controller can be viewed simultaneously when the moveable interactive screen is in the open position.
