Devices With Cutting Chains and Link Configurations
Devices (e.g., chain saws, other tools, etc.) are disclosed with a plurality of links arranged in a chain. A first link comprises a hook that engages a recess of a second link, thereby coupling the links and allowing them to pivot with respect to each other. The links may comprise fins adapted to be positioned in corresponding pockets to inhibit lateral dislocation. A gate may be provided to enable the links to be coupled laterally. One or more closures such as deformable ribs may be provided for closing the gate, and/or a snap-fit such as with a retention ledge may be provided for retention of the fin in the pocket. The links may also have a protruding tab adapted to be positioned in an indented socket of an adjacent link. The links may be tapered. A chain may have one or more spacer links.
SAW CHAIN LINK WITH ONE OR MORE OVERSIZED RIVET HOLES
Embodiments herein provide apparatuses, systems, and methods associated with a saw chain link having one or more oversized rivet holes. A rivet may be disposed in the oversized rivet hole and provide a clearance between the rivet and the edge of the oversized rivet hole that is about 0.010 inches or more. The clearance may permit the saw chain to move between two or more stable positions. The saw chain link may be a drive link, such as a cutter drive link or a bumper drive link. In some embodiments, the saw chain link may be a bi-directional saw chain link. Other embodiments may be described and claimed.
ABRASIVE SAW CHAIN
Embodiments herein provide an abrasive saw chain that includes drive links and tie straps coupled to one another. Cutting elements, such as diamond cutting elements, may be coupled to upper surfaces of respective drive links. An upper surface of the tie strap may contact a lower surface of a cutting element to provide support for the cutting element. The tie strap may include a limiting feature to contact front and/or back surfaces of adjacent cutting elements when the links traverse an elongate portion of a guide bar. Alternatively, or additionally, the drive links may include a mating surface that contacts a mating surface of an adjacent drive link when the drive links traverse the elongate portion of the guide bar. Other embodiments may be described and/or claimed.
Chain saw cutter links
Embodiments of chain saw cutter links, and related apparatuses and methods. For example, in some embodiments, a cutter link may include a top plate, a sharpened surface having an upper end and a lower end, and a depth gauge having a top surface. The sharpened surface may define a reference line tangent to the sharpened surface at the upper end such that the reference line extends between the top plate and the sharpened surface, a sharpened width may be defined by a minimum distance between the reference line and the lower end of the sharpened surface, an opening width may be defined by a minimum distance between the reference line and the top surface of the depth gauge, and the sharpened width may be greater than the opening width.
CUTTING DEVICE AND A METHOD OF CUTTING WITH A CUTTING DEVICE
A cutting device includes a generally planar guide bar having a peripheral groove. An endless saw chain is disposed around the guide bar and includes links and connector elements joining the links to each other to form an endless chain loop. The links include drive links and consecutive tooth links connected to a same one of the drive links. Each tooth link includes a cutting tooth protruding from one side of the saw chain. Consecutive cutting teeth of the tooth links are arranged to alternate to right and left sides relative to a plane defined by the guide bar. The saw chain is operably circulated around the guide bar groove for cutting.
Kickback reducing chain link
A cutting chain (100) moving in a cutting direction (120) is disclosed in the present invention. The cutting chain (100) includes a cutting link (106), which further includes a cutting portion (120), a depth gauge (118) and a space (122) between the cutting portion (120) and the depth gauge (118). The cutting chain (100) further includes a bumper drive link (104) which is pivotally connected to the cutting link (106) and immediately precedes the cutting link (106) in the cutting direction (124). The bumper drive link (104) further includes a tail (204) and a body (202). The tail (204) of the bumper drive link (104) further includes a bent portion (206) and a straight portion (208). Further, the bent portion (206) is oriented in a substantially perpendicular direction relative to a plane (P) of the body (202) of the bumper drive link (104). Moreover, the bent portion (206) of the tail (204) extends into the space (122) between the cutting portion (120) and the depth gauge (118) of the cutting link (106).
Drive link for a sawchain, and an arrangement of a plurality of drive links for a sawchain
A drive link for a sawchain is disclosed wherein the drive link has a top side which faces away from an opening plane defined by the respective axes of the rivet openings and extends at least partially at the drive link apex. A functional surface and a contact surface spaced apart from the functional surface are provided on the top side of the drive link. The functional surface is formed on the drive link apex and includes a section of the top side in which the top side is at a maximum spacing from the opening plane. The functional surface of the top side of the drive link is point-symmetric to a symmetry point with respect to the contact surface in the viewing direction toward the drive link plane.
SAW CHAIN
A saw chain disclosed herein may be configured to be movably mounted along a periphery of a guide bar. The saw chain may include a plurality of drive links, a plurality of side links, and a plurality of connection pins. At least two side links of the plurality of side links may each include a cutting portion including a cutting blade and a depth gauge. A kerf width of the saw chain may be in a range of 4.3 mm to 4.6 mm. A depth of the saw chain may be in a range of 0.1 mm to 0.3 mm. A chain pitch of the saw chain may be in a range of 8.0 mm to 8.5 mm.
