ACL REPAIR METHOD USING FEMORAL ATTACHMENT
Methods and system for the repair of a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament using a femoral attachment are provided. Aspects of the invention include a scaffold attached by a suture to an fixation device. The fixation device and suture are secured to a femur and not to a tibia near or at the repair site.
TISSUE REPAIR IMPLANT AND COMPOSITIONS AND METHOD OF IMPLANTATION
A tendon/ligament repair implant for treatment of tears or lesions of tendons and ligaments, including capsular reconstruction, and compositions for delivering calcium and/or phosphate ions in combination with a collagen solution that can be placed between soft tissue and bone to facilitate healing of the soft tissue-bone interface are provided. The implant may incorporate features of rapid deployment and fixation by arthroscopic means that complement current procedures; tensile properties that result in desired sharing of anatomical load between the implant and native tendon during rehabilitation, or, in situations where the native tissue cannot be repaired tensile properties that provide for substitution of the native tissue selected porosity and longitudinal pathways for tissue in-growth; and may include an at least partially bioabsorbable construction to provide transfer of additional load to new tendon-like tissue and native tendon over time. The compositions can be pre-dried into a thin sheet of material and delivered as a pre-formed matrix, or as a gel or paste which sets in place to form the matrix between the soft tissue and bone.
Methods of Using Water-Soluble Inorganic Compounds for Implants
A method for controlling generation of biologically desirable voids in a composition placed in proximity to bone or other tissue in a patient by selecting at least one water-soluble inorganic material having a desired particle size and solubility, and mixing the water-soluble inorganic material with at least one poorly-water-soluble or biodegradable matrix material. The matrix material, after it is mixed with the water-soluble inorganic material, is placed into the patient in proximity to tissue so that the water-soluble inorganic material dissolves at a predetermined rate to generate biologically desirable voids in the matrix material into which bone or other tissue can then grow.
Bone-tendon graft biomaterial, use as a medical device and method of making same
The invention relates to a polyurethane bone-tendon graft biomaterial and method of making the bone-tendon graft biomaterial. The biomaterial has a gradient of mechanical properties through photocrosslinking such that a first end of the biomaterial is crosslinked at a higher degree than a second end, and the first end of the biomaterial has mechanical properties of bone and the second end of the biomaterial has mechanical properties of tendon.
PRODUCTION AND USE OF COMPACTED COLLAGEN
The present invention relates to a method for producing compressed collagen comprising the steps of a) pressing a gelled collagen in a first pressing direction; and b) pressing the gelled collagen of step a) in a second pressing direction substantially orthogonal to the first pressing direction, wherein the pressing in step a) is carried out at a pressure in the range of 0.01 to 0.05 bar and in step b) at a pressure in the range of 0.5 bar to 2 bar.
Ligament reconstruction
The present disclosure describes methods of treating a ligament injury with ligament grafting.
BIOACTIVE SCAFFOLD AUGMENTATION FOR ACL RECONSTRUCTION
A bioactive scaffold for use in reconstruction of an anterior cruciate ligament of a patient, may include a tissue matrix configured to wrap around a graft configured to extend from a first bone of a joint to a second bone of the joint. The tissue matrix may include collagen type I. The tissue matrix may include a first plurality of apertures extending through the tissue matrix along a first edge of the tissue matrix and a second plurality of apertures extending through the tissue matrix along a second edge of the tissue matrix. At least one filament may be configured to be laced through the first plurality of apertures and the second plurality of apertures and draw the first edge of the tissue matrix toward the second edge of the tissue matrix when the at least one filament is subjected to tension thereby closing the tissue matrix around the graft.
MODIFIED 3D-PRINTED OBJECTS AND THEIR USES
Provided herein are methods which alter the mechanical and biological properties of polymeric materials. Also provided are compositions comprising the polymeric materials having said properties.
METHODS AND COMPOSITION TO TREAT TENDON INJURY
Provided are compositions and methods relating to methods and compositions to treat tendon injury.
Collagen Construct and Method for Producing the Collagen Construct
There is disclosed a collagen construct comprising a plurality of elongate strips, wherein each strip contains a plurality of collagen fibres that are substantially aligned along the length of the respective strips, and the strips are braided or woven together to produce a collagen construct in the form of a rope that can be used for replacing tendons or ligaments, such as cruciate ligaments. Also disclosed is a method for making or producing the collagen construct from a collagen membrane having a plurality of collagen fibres being substantially aligned parallel to each other in a common direction. The membrane is cut along cut lines that are orientated substantially parallel to that common direction, thereby to separate elongate strips from the membrane. The strips are then braided or woven together to form the collagen construct.
